It's a tough thing because in difficult, highly publicized cases like this, where the defendant has done something heinous, there's often a knee-jerk emotional impulse to assail the defense attorney as though they are complicit in their client's crimes. But one has to remember that they have a sworn obligation to offer the best possible defense of their client before the court, and in fact that should be the benchmark that the prosecution must overcome in order to commit someone to prison. After watching some of this trial, IMO that woman deserves the the worst punishment for what she did. She was manipulating Paul. Paul has a job 4pm-1am, which means he has to get ready for work and then go to sleep after he comes home, so Paul's time is 3:30pm to 2am. Then he has to wake up at 7am and take care of an autistic child all day. That IMO is also a punishment to Paul. He barely got any rest and as I noticed, he's simple minded and easily led. This woman is not taking responsibility for anything. So glad the the jury came back in 1 hour with the guilty verdict and hope her sentencing will be life in prison. Now she will be the living under a controlled regimen, eat what she gets, sleep when they let you, shower when they let her etc etc. Let's see how much she like it. I hope Paul gets a lesser sentence and gets some therapy to help him cope with the guilt.

He helped to seal his client's future. He never made too much sense, it was like she ran her entire defense. Are you kidding? This attorney didn't help because he more than likely listened to his client Shanda. Blaming Paul wasn't a good move, because paul was manipulated, brainwashed, and suffered from his mother's abuse. This attorney didn't bring or read from any notes. The attorney was in defense mode.

I liked the end of his argument. Not enough to not convict but I like his point. However, you could use that arguement for Almost any crime. Most criminals don’t envision the ultimate consequences of their actions. When the worst possibility happens, then they regret.
