The state has rested its case as the second week of the murder trial for former Columbus police officer Adam Coy is underway.
Coy, a 17-year veteran of the police force, fatally shot Andre Hill on Dec. 22, 2020 while responding to a neighbor's noise complaint.
He is charged with murder, reckless homicide and felonious assault in Hill's death. He was also charged with dereliction of duty for not activating his body camera when the incident happened, but those charges were dropped. He was subsequently fired and has pleaded not guilty to murder, reckless homicide and related offenses.
