Finally something that makes sense and requires less energy expenditure. It's a simple strategy, I like it. Every school I've been to, survive, escape, submission, but not much rolling strategy, just keep coming through the door you'll get better. Being older this is a very good strategy for energy conservation.

I love defensive strategies in martial arts. I’ve been boxing for 3 and a half years and have a solid defensive fighting style. Mostly for endurance due to me being in my 30’s. Getting into BJJ now seeing that even it has a defensive path to take makes me excited! Can’t wait to keep learning it.

Fabulous I have found myself naturally finding running man to then rolling into them or going to turtle linking them together with other defensive positions- can’t wait to try x

you can also stand up from most of these positions which is a ton of fun too. it screws with the opponent

prof, this is one of the best videos explaining about the 5 positions from priit, thank you so much. Do you think these positions and priit's philosophy works in a MMA setting??
@jiujitsustudent6043 жыл бұрын
I can’t see how any of this would work very well when someone is allowed to punch you in the head.
@Meerkatsuartworks3 жыл бұрын
Well, these principles are mostly taken from wrestling, which Priit often cites, so if you agree that wrestling is an important part of MMA then in theory some of these moves could be feasible. Priit cites Robbie Lawler and Colby Covington's UFC match where some of these moves were in evidence.
@peekaboojujitsoo5253 жыл бұрын
You move. Just like a boxer uses footwork and head movement and not just the arms to defend and/or counter against punches. Keeping your arms in and elbows to your ribs allows you to move and transition more easily.
@ag2230 Жыл бұрын
I think for MMA you need to be careful getting comfortable in these positions. They work best for grappling. But if you can create a good scramble from them they can work for MMA.

Shouldn't your head be on the ground by hawking?
@rollinOnCode2 жыл бұрын
hawking is kinda wrong. it is an inside shoulder escape. you should not be rotating the shoulder - rather you are crunching in one side all the way and you post your head by your right shoulder. the left elbow hangs away symmetrically

Running man looks susceptible to cradle
@Justajiujitsuguy3 жыл бұрын
Luckily I don’t think there’s many attacks from cradle, just a good control, you can’t strike while holding a cradle, and you have to transition to enter a choke. Hopefully at some point in the time he’s sitting idle with you in a cradle the police or other help will arrive.
