When Halo fans first realized that the Rookie died in a book
@necrowmancerowo3 жыл бұрын
Nah, that effect is more resemblant of something akin to the Doom soundtrack. Lol And personally, that book can be burned as far as I care. Just from a franchise standpoint, the handling of the ODST squad was piss poor considering how they broke them up and killed the PC in a book just to have Buck be in Osiris. But it’s whatever at this point, a disappointment to be sure, but we’ll see if the future brings anything cool, or if maybe a spiritual successor to Halo 3 ODST, be it Halo or some other sci-fi noir type series inspired by it, spawns. At this point I mostly just want a game to hit the feel ODST’s environment. Really immerse you in a location and feed you a feeling of quiet loneliness and awe.

Still annoyed that 343 did away with ODSTs. Ive always liked the fact that they are badass not cause of some super high tech armor or some super soldier genetic enchantment, just the fact they are regular people who go above and beyond and look dam good doing it. Spartan IVs just arent the same
@aidanatkinson77173 жыл бұрын
Well I mean technically they do get enhancements just no where near a Spartan. It’s simple things like increased muscle and bone density so they are just slightly more durable than the regular joe. It’s pretty much only meant for them to be able to survive re entry in their pods because sometimes the impact is hard enough to break bones so they have to be tougher. But yeah they havnt been trained since child hood, their not genetically modified, they don’t wear suits that cost as much as a frigate, and their still thrown into near certain death scenarios and somehow win, ODST’s really are some unsung hero’s of the human covenant war.

When as the Spartan you tear through Covenant ranks which truly showcases the difference in ability. Eventually even the Spartan goes down, but his/her sacrifice manages to get your marine rescued. The marine remembers how the Spartan managed to keep them together long enough for at least one to make it out alive inspiring the marine to become a Spartan as well as a S4.

I swear, ODST probably did more important jobs than the spartans behind the scenes, excluding John 117... They took out key locations, supported assaults. Probably did some black-op stuff against their own UNSC members who were being kinda sketch. Similar to spartans, but these dudes weren't wearing armor like the cost of a corvette or a frigate. I imagine Rookie as someone who had a traumatic childhood. I’ve learned a ton about Phycology and myself in the past few years and your early life experiences shape the way you see the world later on. Emotional trauma disconnects you from yourself, it’s one of the most painful things someone can deal with, but also can lead to finding your most true self in recovery. Trauma doesn’t even have to be some obvious form of abuse to do serious damage. Rookie dealt with intense emotional pain in social interactions. Early in life his mother had to give him up, and he still wasn’t properly cared for. And as a result his view of the world was that he expected the worst from everyone. He had a very difficult time connecting with people, and always felt like no one could understand him. Eventually, later in life he gave up on speaking to other people, because it brought up intense pain in him. He felt more content just to be silent. Because of the intense emotions building up inside him he needed a outlet, so he became a ODST. Life was already extremely hard for him so the training was nothing. His training instructors got mad at him for not speaking, but were so impressed by his performance that they let him pass. He was intensely focused. Even through emotional trauma feels terrible, it can bring the best out in people. And rookie poured all his frustration into fighting, his critical approach to everything gave him the upper hand. As time went on, he became content with who he was. Instead of connecting with people he connected with his environments. He knew he was always going to be silent. He became the observer and began to feel his way through everything. This attention to detail meant that he was extremely efficient and perceptive. That’s why you see him noticing everything left behind by his squad. Rookie felt everything intensely, and put his soul into fighting off the covenant. That’s what made him one of the best.

Minor correction. 1: John-117, Sergeant Avery Johnson, Thel 'Vadam (because there were many, many Arbiters and many, many people hold the rank of "Master Chief Petty Officer") 2: ODST personnel 3: UNSC Marines 4: Spartan 2s and 3s Reasoning: Spartans have the best training, best gear, best support networks. Marines have, in comparison, the worst gear and the worst training. ODSTs have the worst deployments and the worst support networks, and are often surrounded when they land. Yet the successes ODSTs achieve during the first 'Golden Hour' of an operation often have a disproportionate impact on the operation as a whole. The Marines are the backbone and primary fighting force of the UNSC, and they're just regular men and women. TL;DR: ODSTs and Marines make do with less, but are just as vital as Spartans, if not more.

Waking up to dusk, light quickly waning because fate has knocked you off your course, stranded and forlorn in a blackening city where death has become ubiquitous, struggling just to regain your bearings as time clenches you tighter in its fist; there are parallels to be drawn to the perils of adulthood. I've carried this loneliness with me but its cathartic to return to Marty's music and feel that noir influenced sense of self-reliance flooding back. And to know in reality you're not alone in your journey, you're just following the clues back to your team.

Personally I loved Reach a lot. It was the first halo game I played, and I like having both shield and a health bar as well as having the armor abilities to mix up the gameplay a bit. That being said, I REALLY liked ODST, the music and atmosphere was stunning, I loved the whole squad, the story was good, and all around it was a great experience.

My boomer dad’s only video games he played was Galaga or Pac Man in bars when he was younger. He got my brother and I ODST even though he hated shooters and had no idea what the hell Halo was. He just knew we liked it. However, I was too afraid to play it as a kid because I didn’t want to be alone exploring. I finally played it as an adult after my father died and after staying strong at his funeral, this fucking track made the water crack. That was two years ago, this year this song will be part of my freeskate program. It seems fitting because that masculine, stone-cold guy really liked watching me figure skate.

Bucky got down onto his knees as his voice crackled with pain, his eyes began to swell up with loss. “Hey Rookie, remember me pal? I just came back up here to talk with you a final time before the rest of the team get off this hell hole. I still can’t believe you won’t be coming with us, but hopefully wherever you are there aren’t any covenant with you, I wanted to apologize, I’m sorry I couldn’t save you. You were like a brother to me, I’ll make sure to keep your memories alive, I promise you, also remember, if you find a chick where you’re at, make sure she’s got balls.” Bucky stood up while sniffing a bit, he turned off his visor and began to walk away clinching the grip to his SMG.

I've been seeing stories of people who had loved ones who played ODST or halo in general... and lost then to a horrible tragedy. I say, keep your head up soldier. You have a fight to finish. They would've wanted to push on and keep it going. As so many people in this section have said. Spartans don't die. Their just missing in action.

I know most people would cry when listening to the song, but this only echoes the emptiness within me. It's been a very painful year; I had to put my cat to sleep a week after my birthday, and roughly a month later I had a falling out with someone I love, with a good chance being that I won't see either of them ever again. I would cry, but I've run dry of tears.

I’m so sorry…I truly am. Believe it or not, I actually made this when I was in a pretty bad place myself and to see so many stories from what a video game meant to these people and to those they’ve lost, it breaks my heart. But to you and those that are going through a pretty rough time in their lives, just know that it does eventually get better and that you’re not alone. I promise.

I remember when I first went into foster care, my favorite thing to do was to go on long walks that took hours on end; waking up at 4 in the morning for school and taking the empty train 'til I got there. There's something peaceful about exploring the world while everyone sleeps, then eventually it just becomes lonely. The walks, even if in the middle of the day, in a crowd of stranger, I hate that I can't speak to them and while everyone sleeps, I'm still just here. It's like being a ghost. I remember I did the same thing during lunch at school, just wander and walk and eventually, hope that someone would walk with me. No one ever did. Today, I still find the night to be home and sometimes struggle to stay up during the day, and god I wish I just had someone to talk to, to bounce off their energy and keep going. I want to find someone to make the day seem welcoming again. Even if it's only when they're around, I can handle the rest as long as they exist. Maybe this is my rock, the intangible hope of hope: personified. {I am okay, I Promise}

This kinda tells a meaning on the battlefield that nobody will have a proper funeral as they won't die peaceful around people, only those small few would honor them while nobody else cares, It fits well the picture and song given that theme of a loss of friend or loved one that stand beside you all this time Intel now, that bond was shot down.

This song reminds me of my mother. she would used to play Halo all the time with my father. He taught her how to play. They somehow completed halo 2 on legendary and i can barely do it on regular cause im just that bad. Everytime i play halo, i think about the fun times they had and how i enjoyed watching them play. But thats over now, my father still has me to play Halo with but its just not the same for him. He barely wants to, he is usually busy or just contemplating on something.

It took us months to finally finish the fight and we were so happy at 2am when we were finally done that we woke up our mom with all the noise.
