If anyone was wondering how and why Alyssa curls still look Poppin😍 after her adventure with heat and other stuff it's because she has coarse hair and that means that her hair strands are thicker than medium and fine so she can do more heat styling and bleaching without her hair getting that badly damaged Also that is why her hair still is growing so long and healthy. One way to find out how thick your strands are is to get a piece of hair from a comb or a brush and look at it through the light if you can't see it you have fine hair , If you can see it but are struggling you have medium And if its really not hard to miss no matter how close you get to the light you can still see the strand you have coarse hair. If you have blond hair it will he harder to figure out but keep trying (Fun Fact: African Americans mainly have FINE hair strands which is prone to breaking and tangling)

The SheaMoisture Jamaican Black castor oil Leave-in conditioner has alcohol in it. It'll feel good on your hair at first but after using it you will feel the drying impact it will have on your hair, trust Instead, try using Taliah Waajid Detangler Leave In Conditioner and Co Wash I use it as a leave in after SheaMoisture was cancelled. And omg... so much better than any SheaMoisture item I've purchased (I do like their Jamaican Black Castor oil shampoo though)

I tried using a natural hair conditioner with Jamaican Mango & Lime JBCO Lavender last week Sunday to deep condition with, and my hair turned out even more moisturized & healthy, so I’ll be doing it from now on. Your hair looks so moisturized & healthy, so all you need is a trim. For the first time last week Sunday, I achieved my best wash & go to date by using the right technique (raking with my fingers and smoothing) and using the right products (being heavy handed with product from root to tip), and I only refreshed it yesterday, so I will be doing this from now on. I have only done a wash & go 5 times since having my big chop done on 5/10/2013 at a natural hair salon which includes that day, and I’m proud of myself for not giving up on wash & goes for my hair. Majority of the time, I rinse deep conditioners out of my hair with warm water and cold water. Your hair looks great with no product, and I plan to do that this summer for a day, since I haven’t done it since 2014. My curl pattern resembles yours, but my hair is a little past my shoulders after shrinkage, and my wash & go looks piecey too (want it more clumped). I want more volume with my medium density hair, so I might have to just pull out my purple Afro pik to rectify that.

@Ki’erra Dye there are different combinations of texture on each person's head. The texture of people's edges may vary along with density. Personally, I think hair typing isn't accurate because everyone's hair varies in texture and the amount of each. :)

Alyssa u should try a dry wash and go. Twist or plat your hair and stretch them to the other side of your head and pin them down, and in the morning take them down, then apply the gel DRY on to your hair and finger comb and you won’t have nearly as much shrinkage!! I did a video on it a few months ago and I’m gonna do it again with this new gel I’m buying
