Another good review. As a person over 6 feet tall the high back chair is what I look for. The whole reason for any chair is comfort otherwise we’d just sit on the ground or some other suitable surface.

I bought the Klymit Timberline, essentially the same chair-minus the side pocket. I’ve sat in it every day since July4th and am sitting in it now. The only thing I have negative to say is the high back allows it to tip over very easily.

We have the Helinox Chair zero for me and my son has the Chair Mini. For car camping, Costco carries the "Cascade Mountain Tech Ultralight Highback Chair" for $30. It even looks just like the highback chair here. It even comes with a cushion. They weigh about the same. For backpacking, I carry the Chair Zero, at just over a pound, it's an amazing chair.

If you're not backpacking, and want a chair that's gonna last, check out the Kermit Chair. Made in Tennessee, and are perfect for motorcycle camping. Optional leg extensions make them as tall as lawn chair, easier for us old folks to get up and down. Price is double of the chairs in this review, but you only buy one.

@RMJ19843 жыл бұрын
Even the high back is too small for a tall person. As someone who is 6"5. I would no doubt get backpain after sitting in either for more than 2 min. So funny how everyone tells you how cool is must be to be tall. Nope not at all, it's a pain in the life. Nothing fits, having to pick what fits you, instead of what you wants. Trying to find tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, that is long enough and can support your weight. I've had regular wooden / metal chairs collapse on me, because they are only rated for 100kg. The high life is the sad life ! lol

I have the shorter Camo chair that I took on a 7 week 10,044 mile motorcycle trip. I have large saddlebags and the chair fit in the top just fine. The chair is quality and sturdier than the cheaper chairs this style. I did use the side pockets to hold cozi's or to stuff the end of the bag in, so the bag wouldn't get last. The only thing I wish was that there were some plastic discs that would fit into those pockets that could be added to the feet to help the chair to not sink so much in softer ground. That's it, my only complaint, optional add on feet. I bought the chair based on you last review, and was happy with my choice.

I have a standard model and a Big Agnes highback. The One Tigris products are heavier, but feel much stronger. The Big Agnes, which has been sold out all summer, is far more expensive and very light and comfortable. The Big Agnes collapses down to fit in a smaller bag, because each upright is two pieces and the bar beneath the seat is two pieces as well. I am happy with my purchases, however, I would recommend the One Tigris to others as it is cheaper, easier to assemble and feels more durable.

I have two regular OneTigris chairs. One I keep in my living room and have had it in daily use for about 6 weeks. No sign of wear and it's quite comfortable. The other I have in my truck camper for when I do overnights. Works really well for that because it stores in a much smaller package than a regular folding chair. Thumbs up on the chair and on your videos.

The high back I bought from a different company has a couple add-ons that yours doesn't have... a head pillow that velcros on, and a foot rest that clips on. I leave both add-ons at home when I paddle camp, but take them car camping. They do make it comfortable enough for a brief snooze. (When I backpack these are too heavy so I take a hammock chair if anything) I have a couple of the small chairs too. They just aren't really comfortable enough for us tall folks (I'm about 6'3"). I will take the small ones car camping for others to sit in.

I bought and tested the OneTigris Highback chair in the Highlands and I can say this Its gucci and literally the best chair out there. I am a fatty and this thing is rated for a weight far bigger than me. It actually flexes a bit, in a good way. It does dig in to the ground but much less than other chairs due to the BIG rubber stoppers on the legs Reclining back into it, its so comfortable that you could literally sleep in it Leaning forward, the flex actually functions to make it practical if you are prepping a fire. Its basically a tactical deckchair that trumps every other chair system out there. The down sides are ..... Its really really big. Im talking "molle it to the outside of your pack" big. Its heavy: 1.36kg is basically half a tent. This is without doubt, the most awesome, comfortable, and best value-for-money chair, that anyone could buy... ...but it weighs about the same as 2x 750ml canteens of water, and THAT right there is the rub. I would not camp WITHOUT it. I would never hike WITH it. Its a wonderful chair but its a tank of a chair.

I just bought a Helinox high back version. Just over 1 kg, and 140e 😅 I tried the low back, but liked the high version because i'm able to rest my head, especially if I slide bit more downwards in the chair. Very relaxing! And I can use the carrying pouch as a pillow with something inside it. I like to use it to support my lower back.

Hmm ... would depend on what I was planning to use it for . For anybody who wants a really light , solid , backpacking chair that is minimalist . That is way better than a ground , rock or log . The Helinox Ground Chair . It sits really low , and is hard to get in & out of . But , is great after a long day hiking . About 23 oz . Nice review as usual ! Can't wait for the Van video ! I just went to Ford last week about ordering one , Reg roof 4x4 . They are NOT taking orders right now , which is OK . Cause I'm stuck on going Turbo 6 , or normally aspirated ??! Good review. This may have been said, but in regards to making the high back less high but keeping the shape, with the back being higher, you’re able to keep the top bar out of your back. It’s a little heavy for backpacking though.
@SandraOrtmann19763 жыл бұрын
The highback here is basically useless, the seat cut is what makes it. I own a similar chair which has a swivelling function and a highback onto which I can lean my head on. If I use a cushion, I can sleep in this thing. A matching footstool is included in the set, which makes it even more comfortable (and if needed, it makes for an emergency seat). There is velcro on the top of the headrest, onto which you can attach an also included flat bag which can be stuffed (e.g. spare clothes), which supports your head. It was not a cheap set, but worth every penny IMO. Love this thing.

Either one of these chairs beats sitting on a log or on a backless bench! Based on your review, I would opt for the high-back model because I am broad-shouldered: the cut-away shape would fit me better. For many years, I have owned a heavier fold-up chair with wooden armrests. A chair needs armrests to be truly comfortable. Realistically, I would not carry any of these chairs for backpacking. Chairs are for car camps.

My favorite hiking chair is Big Agnes Big 6 Camp Chair (the one with out the arm rest). I have wide hips and most hiking chairs do not account for this. Also, It is hard for me to get off the ground from a low chair or sit pad. It weighs 3lbs 14ozs and takes a few minutes to setup, but that is ok as it will keep me on the trail!

Ah, thank you for doing a review on the high back version- I’ve been waiting to finally grab a chair like these but then I noticed everyone has started making high back versions of it- and to be honest, the way you were positioned sitting in the high back chair looks more like what I’m looking for- I don’t mind extra weight & a few inches if it means I can lean back a bit and not have poles poking me in my arms lol.. Pretty sure I ordered the lower chairs based on your review...couldn't find the highback on slamazon for quite a while. Now they do have it, in black, for $80 but I recently picked up their "Dragonhide Camping Chair". The new Dragonhide version has a removable pillow, bilateral cup holders, and can be used in either a "high" mode or by stowing the legs in a "low" mode for $70. Seems a no brainer. I definitely like the highback version better than the originial I purchased. The low back can be for the kids.
