I‘m 20 years old and in Juli last year i bought the C5 Aircross, used with 15.000 km 3 years old. I always wanted a Reliable yet Luxury SUV because i just love to have big space in my car. One of the examples why i wanted to buy a Family Car yet i’m just one Person. I have the 180hp Gasoline Motor with an automatic Gearbox, and i also have the most Tech in the Car plus the Brown Leather. Till now i am actually happy, it‘s interesting how people look at my car when i drive past them. when i overtake cars the sport mode actually comes in handy. The only negative thing i really don‘t like is that the leather looks it‘s been used for centuries now, but i think this is normal cause it is of course no real leather. Yet im still scared what comes for the future because here in Austria we don‘t hear good things about french cars.

I’m always 100% honest in my reviews Nashan, I take real pride in it as I feel it makes me different from some of the others out there. The main difference with this one is, when it’s my own car I’m happier to put the boot in a bit heavier as if I offend an owner of one…well….I’m one too so I’m allowed to😁👍 I’ve also had this for 2 months so have had far more time than usual with the car which really helps. Perfect timing for me coming across this review. Buying a Flair Plus (manual) version of this car in the next week or so, in large part because of the 3 rear seats (10 month old twins so *two* car seats) and boot space combo. Fantastic to hear some proper details on that rear space. Cheers!

Honest review Jim. Interestingly, here in Australia, Citroen's 2021 sales totalled 175, yes, that's just 175 sales for the whole country for the whole year. When combined with Peugeot, the total sales volume for both was 2805 out of approx 1m cars sold. Neither are really seen as mainstream models here. Reliability? As the owner of a service and repair workshop specialising in European and Swedish cars, we do see Citroen and Peugeot over represented for the size of the vehicle population. We have one of each on hoists at the moment waiting for (expensive) parts. I hope your C5 is going to serve you well. At least you have a shorter supply chain than we do here.

That’s a crazy thought, they’re everywhere over here. This is one model that doesn’t seem to have many faults (other than the stereo system pooping the bed) and with a 3 year full warranty it should do us ok for a bit. Nice car to drive in fairness, just dull. It shares parts over with most new Vauxhall, Peugeot, DS etc so they’re easy to get parts for here. The fusebox if you think about it is always on the pavement side in the UK , Id rather be standing on the peavement fitting a new fuse that in the road with the drivers door open esspecially somewhere where I cant turn around or find a place to park. Ive got a 30 k 2019 1.5 diesel flair model it does around 60 to the gallon at 65 miles an hour and its extreemly comfortable on long journeys and the air comfort suspension is brilliant on UK roads. There are no airbags on the C5 Aircross the shocks look like standard shocks but they have been redeveloped by Citroen with rubber bump stops inside the top and bottom of the shocks this absorbs impacts slower than standard shock absorbers taking up any bumps in the road. I had a Citroen Xantia 1.9td estate and it was 18 years old before it died reliability on Citroens is never an issue if you take care of them. like any other make on the road. I had to do a bit of leg work to find out the service intervals for the EAT8 auto gearbox and found out that it is every 60k or four years. at least it has a proper syncromesh gearbox and not a renault dry dual clutch system which wears out and needs replacing eventually. The EAT8 Box has no dual mass flywheel saving a significant amount of weight that you are lugging around in the engine bay aiding better fuel economny.

Great review. I test drove this model and although I really liked it and found it very smooth to drive, it felt a bit sloppy sometimes. In the end I chose the Peugeot 3008. That car felt responsive and agile....probably partly because of the small steering wheel. Now it's 3 years on and I am still enjoying the Peugeot, but in another year I'll upgrade and will have to choose between the newer C5 and the newer 3008. Well I don't get any of that - I get a car for a week to review but it's work - not exactly a perk mate. The manufacturers have absolutely sod all say or veto power with what I put across in my reviews either.

Really torn pal, looking to lease one of these cars top spec version But then seen the Tiguan r line for 50quid more a month Stuck🙈
@DefinitelyNotAGuru Жыл бұрын
To be fair, they both do pretty much the same thing but personally, if you can afford the £50 per month, I'd probably go for the Tiguan R Line. I would still buy this over a Tiguan as I'd not be desperate to own something with a DSG for the long term (happy to lease a new one though!). The VW is a bit more refined, slightly better quality interior and slightly more pleasurable to drive but the ride comfort won't be quite as good as it is in the Citroen.
@muzzer8869 Жыл бұрын
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru thanks for your input pal, also got 3 kids in the back 2 small boosters and a baby seat and they fit in the Tiguan but citron is better in back, wife just really loved the look of them r lines thats the problem ha

Jim, what have you done?!!! Surely something from the VW group comes to mind. (Karoc?) Nothing worse than an underpowered car imo. You will be shot of it within 2 years. Keep the videos coming. 👍
@DefinitelyNotAGuru Жыл бұрын
It’s my wife’s car really as I’m always driving review cars. On that not, I drive more cars than anyone I know (other motoring journos aside), and I know a thing or two about cars and what’s best for our specific use case. 1) it’s not at all underpowered, 2) VAG reliability has been appalling of late and a used DSG can be a ticking timebomb. It’s not at all interesting but it’s the best car for the job with the budget we had. Trust me, I know. 👍👍👍

VW group cars are so dull in my opinion. Especially Skoda. Peugeot, Citroën/DS more interesting cars. The French are on a roll these days.

As others have said, a lot of people need to make a practical choice when it comes to cars and not go for the super duper nice car they really want. I might have to change my lovely V60 soon which is top spec and lots of options, but has a lot of money sitting in it. It's hard to accept that I might need to swap it for a focus or something similar especially when the world of social media is people always going big with their cars, 'you only live once' kind of attitude, so I think there's a lot of pressure to up your budget constantly.
@DefinitelyNotAGuru Жыл бұрын
Don’t listen to social media, it’s full of idiots like me 😁. Totally agree though Josh. Driving what you can afford and what makes practical sense is something that should be applauded rather than trying to keep up with the Jones’s or a shouty influencer bloke who’s in tons of debt with 3 Mclarens 👍

I'm surprised you've gone for a Citroen if your reason for not sticking with the VW Touran was on grounds of poor reliability.
@DefinitelyNotAGuru Жыл бұрын
Google the list of common faults on a Touran then do the same on a 1.2 Petrol C5 Aircross. I know my cars better than most to be fair mate. Vag reliability has been poor for a while and Citroen have been getting much better.
@HologramJones Жыл бұрын
Citroen unreliability is more myth than fact. Also, VW seem to be having quite a few customer complaints in regards to their rust warranties, the "VW don't rust" myth. They just don't recognise the problem until it causes a hole and customers have been taking them to task.

My interest in them always stops at the pathetic 3 yr warranty & the fact they can't be bothered to shift the fuse box. In the scheme of things two small, easily overcome matters they could do something about and bring themselves into line with better manufacturers like Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, heck even MG. But no they can't be bothered so neither can I, never will be.

Not impressed with those mpg figures, my 10 year old Peugeot 308 will do 70mpg at 70mph on motorways, and 56:mpg around town , also those wet belts need replacing every 60k at a cost off £700
@DefinitelyNotAGuru Жыл бұрын
What a good job that I bought it and you didn’t 😂 I don’t want a diesel and don’t care about the belt change cost (which is £500 where I am). MPG is not an issue for us as it will probably do 6k per year.

Cars nowadays are not made with long term use in mind anyway, but go out there in Europe and you see Citroens with easily 20 - 30 years use . It's about looking after them. This Citroen unreliability myth is quite unfortunate.
