Regarding Whiscash, the video didn't really mention this but Whiscash is also based on a specific catfish in Japanese mythology, the Onamazu, a giant catfish that causes earthquakes! That too might also contribute to the ground typing, as Whiscash is known for predicting earthquakes with its whiskers

Fun fact about Marowak: it holds the distinction of being one of the few true boss fights in the series. Excluding the Sun and Moon games most boss fights in Pokémon are either Legendaries or story related villains and their teams. But in the original titles the ghost of an otherwise standard Marowak takes the role of a boss fight the player must overcome to finish the story.

Ah, the ground type. My favorite type, with several of my all time favorite Pokemon. Trapinch (the ant-lion), Phanpy (the little blue elephant), and Swinub (the brown ball of fur with a pig nose) all rotate around my top 5 VERY regularly. And some of the bigger mons are up there, too!

To give Landorus and his brothers (and also the sister that was revealed in a game after this video came out lol) some credit, they have some pretty cool inspirations and I personally like them a lot. Their incarnate forms are based on different Japanese deities, fitting for a group of legendary Pokemon. Their official group name btw is The Forces of Nature. You've probably heard of his brothers origins, Tornadus is based on Fūjin and Thundurus is based on Raijin. Landorus is based on Inari which is the Kami of harvest. Tornadus and Thundurus don't get a long, they get into fights whenever they cross paths and Landorus has to break them up, but the carnage ends up bringing fertility to the land in the process. Their sister Enamorus's role in their relationship is unclear but she's based on Ugajin. The four of them also have Therian animal forms that are based on the Four Auspicious Beasts from Chinese mythology, Landorus being the White Tiger. Also yeah in terms of competitive Pokemon Landorus was a menace for years and years whenever he was usable. He's still good to this day but power creep keeps him in check now. His Incarnate form is fast with high special attacking power, while his Therian forme (the one that dominated competitive) is slower but with even higher physical attack and an ability called Intimidate that lowers the opponents attack stat whenever it switches in. Intimidate is arguably the strongest ability in competitive Pokemon history and Landorus utilizes it well. It makes him a really strong supportive Pokemon that can dish out some surprise damage too.

Diglett/Dugtrio are based on Whack-a-Mole, which makes their lightspeed retreats (and shapes) make sense, infuriatingly vanishing before you can hit them.

Beth loves the little cute ones and Ken likes the cool fully evolved ones, just like kids do. Pokemon decided to not make every pokemon a widdle baby or ferocious monster, but instead have a mix of the two was a genius marketting move

Golems, according legend, were specifically the guardians of ancient Hebrews, so…I doubt it was gonna wake up for the Franks lol Presuming it would even count as a proper golem without whatever ritual was used.

Yes, a lot of the explanation for the element type Pokémon comes down to saying what a Pokémon is based on, Ground just seems very straightforward. One could talk about the extra in-universe lore of the Pokémon such as Digglet’s speed but it is mostly an explanation of why it is ground assuming you know that it’s based on a mole-type creature. Also, there are a bunch if dual type Pokémon. So maybe the other half of the origin of them will be in the upcoming videos. 👍

Lockstin and Gnoggin, huh? I like this guy. His Pokémon types explained videos are a great mix of intelligent and comedic. Pokémon is a series that I enjoy. I don't enjoy it as much as Super Mario, but some of the Pokémon spin-off games are fun to play. As for the actual creatures, it's fun to observe them in the anime or summon them in Super Smash Bros. games as CPU teammates. This Ground-type video is a good reaction.

Yeah this type series Lockstin made started out focusing more on real life with steel rock and poison, but this one sort of marks it shifting to just explaining why they're that type with different categories depending on the type. I think fire is coming up soon? I think that's one of the most interesting videos of the type series he did. Ground type ends up being an accessory type to the Pokemons main type a lot, like rock/ground types are super duper common, there's a good amount of steel/grounds too, those three types stick together a lot which makes sense. Ground is a really strong typing, most ground types can use Earthquake which is a super strong attack that hits every target on the field. It's also the only type that electric is weak too, and ground is even immune to electric attacks, but in turn flying types are immune to ground type attacks. Alright, Swinub, Sandshrew, Diglett and Zygarde, I love all those guys too! Swinub is super cute, I like how Swinub and Piloswine go from looking like little raggedy mops on the floor to the majestic menace that Mamoswine is. Mamoswines blue mask thing was always striking to me as a kid. One of the main characters in the Diamond and Pearl anime had a Mamoswine and I found it super memorable. As a kid Sandshrew also just kinda scratched an itch in my brain, it's cute and somewhat uncommon in the wild which made me super interested in it, the brick pattern is super satisfying. There's also a regional variant of Sandshrew called Alolan Sandshrew. Alolan Sandshrew is an ice type and it lives on the top of snowy mountains, and its brick pattern looks a lot more like an igloo, and it can curl up into a perfect curling iron shape. Diglett is classic, he's just so simple. The mystery of what's under the ground has been a mystery forever, but a popular joke theory is that it's just a huge muscular body down there lmfao, that's inspired some interesting fanart. Zygarde is a legendary Pokemon from Kalos, and it completes the trio of legendaries that include Xerneas and Yveltal. Xerneas and Yveltal are like the physical incarnations of life and death respectively, but they make it a point that neither of them are good nor evil, they are both equally important to the world and that doesn't stop them from still being able to be your friend :) Zygarde on the other hand is the guardian of the world and its ecosystems. It scatters itself across the world in the form of tiny cells that can merge to create different forms of Zygarde. The dog is 10% of all the cells gathered, the snake is 50%, and the humanoid one is when Zygarde is complete! Xerneas Yveltal and Zygarde are all based on Norse Mythology. Xerneas is the World Tree Yggdrasil, Vyeltal is the eagle that sits on top the world tree, and Zygarde is the dragon that gnaws at its roots. There's a lot more Norse Mythology to the three of them but that's the jist. Zygarde was kinda left high and dry by the series unfortunately, it never got a game of its own unlike other legendaries like it, and it was just kinda shoehorned into Sun and Moon. But pretty soon they're releasing Pokemon Legends Z-A which is gonna be set in Kalos and it's gonna be all about him! Zygarde fans will finally be eating it'll be glorious...

First we have my Pokken Tournament main and the only pseudo legendary I ever go out of my way to get, Garchomp! Second we have the prickliest purple Pokémon, and possessor of Pokémon Stadium’s best poses, hail to the Nidoking!

Very glad you got more out of this then the Rock type video. He went a little overboard with the scientific stuff and realized it went off topic as to what the videos were supposed to be. Explaining why certain Pokémon are the types they are. And yes, you are correct in that Pokémon have a Primary typing and a Secondary typing. The ones on the left are the Primary and the ones on the right are the secondary. Though to be honest with you, the placing of the Typings don’t really matter. It’s what they have that matters more. And it’s up to the players to know what Type is either strong against or weak against. Or in Ground’s case, what they’re also immune to. Yes, some types can be immune to other specific types. Like Electricity. Electric type moves have no effect on Ground because Ground is a neutralizer and just disperses it. Also know that Pokémon will at most have 2 typings. Because with there now being over 1000 of these little guys, it’s very hard to for Game Freak to make sure one species is not overpowered or underpowered. Meta is kind of a nightmare when it comes these games.

Not sure if this is an appropriate place for suggestions, but might I suggest reacting to some videos from the channel "Designing For." He does amazing and heartfelt analysis videos on games and game characters. I know you guys already reacted to The Rpg Monger's Kirby Lore video, but Designing For did his own Kirby Lore video, "Designing for Friendship", that's more about theming and design. He's also done ones on Pokemon, Mario, Donkey Kong, etc. Could be a good option for another Wild Card Wednesday.

Top 3 favorite Ground type Pokémon. 1. Groudon I started my journey of the mainline Pokémon games in Generation 3. Which was Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire. Ruby caught my eye the most since red is my favorite color and Groudon just looked freaking cool to me. And with his distantly recent upgrade of his Omega Form in Generation 6, I love them even more. 🌋❤️🔥 2. Camerupt It’s actually in the same game as Groudon. The little camel looking Pokémon with the sad eyes (Called Numel) instantly caught my heart when I encountered them. It looked so cute and sad that I just wanted to make them the best of them all. And when it evolved into Camerupt, I immediately fell for how more tough it looked. And it’s a freaking camel with a double volcano on its back. What’s not to love?! And just like Groudon, it got an upgrade in Generation 6 called “Mega Evolution” and now it looks like a living mini volcano. Some people think it looks stupid, but I don’t mind and still love it. ❤️🔥 3. Clodsire This is a Pokémon that came out with the more recent games, Scarlet & Violet. It’s alternate form of an existing Pokémon, but the cuteness was doubled with how it looks so much like chocolate eclair donut. And it just looks so huggable! 🥰 Too bad about the poisonous spikes it can retract from its back apparently 😱 Still find it cute though.

Another nice reaction you guys 😉. I usually consider the Ground-Typing as simply being a part 2 to Rock-Types 😅. All the same though, it's always neat knowing about the facts behind why their given the Typing (even if most of the explanations can be rather mundane, lol). I'm with ya on the opinion tha Zygarde is definitely an awesome Ground-Type Pokémon, though obvious given that it's a Legendary. Alright, time to explore Dark-Types next 🌙😈.

Ground is another type I never really got into much. It's got some cool entries for sure, though. Plus we got a glimpse of part of my favorite starter line, the Mudkip line, with Marshtomp and Swampert 😊. I'm sure we'll see more of them in the water type video, plus I'll get to see how much you guys like my favorite Pokémon 🙂. I'm gonna keep which one it is a secret until then, though 😏

They don’t really take payments to watch videos as far as I’m aware. Just to support them. They just take suggestions and need to make time for those suggestions. So you just need to occasionally bring up what you want them to see. In either the comment section or in their Discord. Or their instagram, but I don’t use that. Besides, how are you bored with these Pokémon videos when so far they’ve only been doing them once a month?
