/* ---- VIDEO INFORMATION ---- */
Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down Talk to the hand 3.
-
No we're here with Terminator 3 and in this video we're gonna talk about the easter eggs, making of and behind the scenes trivia. I know it seems like I've been putting this off for a while now but this is actually a film I have quite fond memories of. This was a movie that released just before my birthday and me my mates all went to the Odeon in Newcastle and had a blast. The film messed up towards the last half hour and they had to restart it from the mid point of the movie.
It was a weird experience as retreading a lot of the movie we'd just watched made it feel more predictable and so when we got that twist it was even more shocking. Thats always the first thing I think of when I think of this movie and even now I feel like its the franchises biggest gut punch.
Killing John Connor in Dark Fate was but...for a different reason.
Either way from what I remember of the film this was basically a remake of Terminator 2. Going back through it though I found a lot of things to like and it's probably my fourth favourite film in the franchise.
We are gonna be breaking it all down but first I wanna quickly shoutouts #JusticeForCharlie from friend of the channel Trevor Weller. That's the t-shirt I'm wearing for today's video and Trevor is trying to raise awareness for the medical malpractice of his father. I'll leave a link to the page where you can learn more and also ways to support.
Now in the wake of Terminator 2 Cameron had stated he wasn't interested in doing a sequel and he believed that 1 and 2 acted like a perfect self contained story. Part 1 was about parents with this being seen in the three main characters. Sarah was the Mother and Kyle was the Father but The Terminator was also a father as well.

Honestly, the weirdest thing about this incredibly 2003 film is the fact that John Connor isn't proactive for 99% of the narrative. He's just running away. T2 established that his mom trained him for most of his life but in this film he's just like cowering from danger or complaining, while Claire Danes has all the cool proactive character development and action bits. She's like "actually" the real John Connor. How do you not use this film to show how John "becomes" someone believable as a leader? The ending is so good but the narrative direction of this film is just bafflingly stupid.

Terminator 3 is similar to the third films of Alien & Godfather. Good movies that get judged too harshly because the first two are all-time classics. These films are certainly not that, but that doesn't mean they are bad.

Back to the Future 3 got a similar kind of criticism for being a bit difference, but as far as I know most people now rank it just as high as the other two. BTTF 3 is definitely as good as the other two, and I think I like it more than the second one.

Alien 3 and Terminator 3 both have the issue of ruining the ending of the 2nd movie in the franchise. Alien 3 kills all the surviror of Aliens before the movie even start, except for Ripley, making it one of the most bitter and underwhelming intros to a sci-fi horror movie. Terminator 3 ruins Terminator 2's ending by killing Sarah (again, off-screen, and ruining John's caracter arc, making him a wuss who runs away from every kind of threat, which also destroys his arc from the previous film. T3 also ruins the ending of T2, where Sarah and John had completed their task and finally managed to destroy Skynet. Cameron is right: The first two Terminator movies had the entire story and had a satisfying ending. Making a third movie, just shits on the conclusion with a plot that feels like "Somehow Palpatine returned", and again, yeah... that's just underwhelming and bitter... Alien 3 and Terminator 3 aren't terrible movies, they are just unnecessary and they ruin the previous installments of their franchise.

@@davemccage7918 why? I mean, T3 is not the best (while T4 T5 T6 straight _can't_ be accepted into the storyline T1/T2 started and established, T3 is debatable, I'm more towards not accepting it into the storyline but at least it's got a chance and _maybe it could_ pass), but self driving cars are not one of my issues. I mean, it makes sense that the future advanced technology that T-X is equipped with could gain control over those vehicles and drive them remotely.

@@TN_T_ nah. T1 and T2 are the exact same model, T-800 (model 101, Arnold's skin/face look). Only T3 is T-850 (which is basically T-800 with some minor upgrades, so essentially still the same model) Also, regarding those power cells, it's unclear if T-800 had them, but I assume it did (just makes more sense to me). But anyways, the way I understood how it works with T-850 is they become kind of nuclear bombs only when they're exposed to the Sun/removed from the endoskeleton. So my assumption is if they're not removed from the endoskeleton, if the endoskeleton is destroyed they won't exlode. There's probably something else apart from heating that keeps them stable, maybe they're disarmed by some internal mechanisms and only get armed if they're removed from the main body. Also, this would explain why T1 and T2 T-800s didn't explode like nuclear bombs once destroyed (assuming they had those power cells).

I thought the cast did a pretty good job . Even Nick Stahl. I know many people don't like his performance, but I kinda appreciated his subdued, low-key, traumatized take on John Connor. That final 10min was a bold choice. A real gut-punch. Yes, it completely overturned the "no fate but what we make" philosophy of T2, but in doing so it showed the other side of the coin that is the question of Free Will/Determinism. It was more in line with the ending of the first film. Personally, I am a compatibilist so I do believe that free will is compatible with determinism - we have all the free will that's worth having . Not a great film, but not a total disaster either.

YOU DID T3 OMFGGGGGGGGGG. This is the one I was most hyped for. T3 is easily one of my favorite popcorn movies and I actually love the different model's lore of this timeline. So excited to dive-in! Edit: My brother in Christ, it was a T-800 in both The Terminator and T-2. I have no idea where you got T-100 from, haha.

Absolutely worth the wait. I never really had a problem with this movie. But, after this breakdown, there needs to be a Director's Cut and it needs (future) Sir Paul (not that one) to be executive writer and producer.

I still love T1 and 2. T2 might be my favorite film. T3 was ok, but it didn't add to the lore well enough for me and took away from the "no fate but what we make" idea. Just my thoughts... even though I always love seeing Claire Daines.

In my opinion, this is how the Terminator trilogy should have ended and not be reinvented anymore. I even find the flaws add to it. What the franchise should be doing now is telling us a new story like how the actual war went down.

i liked her as a terminator, the complex weapons is more like most of the weapons double as parts of her exo skeleton, so the liquid is just makes solid framing and what not the complex part comes from the physical wrist and what not, love the evolution of the terminators with rev 9 being my fav, team work makes the dream work haha

Crazy to think this movie is 21 years old!? T3 is a weird one, I think it's an OK but obviously inferior ending to a trilogy (but I don’t consider anything after T2 is canon, just a fun standalone film), and Kate Brewster and Terminatrix are both cool new characters.

Great vid! I do remember when this came out thinking that it wasn't as bad as a lot of people made it out to be, though it was for me the weakest of the 3 by a fair way. Did enjoy it at the time, and now I feel i need to do a re-watch of the trilogy as havgen't done so in YEARS!! Also, was it just me, or did the frame rate of your video keep dropping sometimes causing it to look a bit stopmotion? Couldn't figure if was my machine or the vid on YT :D

I saw this movie back when I was 19 and I hated it. Absolute garbage. Now, over 20 years later I look back at it and I kinda like it. That ending specially was really good and in hindsight better than T2's ending. The idea that no matter what you do Judgent Day can't be stopped is the real deal of the whole franchise for me.

I like this movie. I was 16 when I saw it in a theater. I remember I hated the comedy in the movie at that time and that the tx could make cars drive. But the ending was really great. Claire Danes is so great in T3. What I also really like is that humans began making T-1 and "terminators". Because it explains all the English words and their coding. They couldn't have reprogrammed two arnies if it was something completely different.

Firstly, I do love all the effort and time you put into your videos, many of which I generally agree with and enjoy. Though the newest one about the Terminator animated show on Netflix, I absolutely disagree with you on. That aside, I was wondering if you ever do off type movie comparisons and or breakdowns? The Silence of the Lambs movies, specifically the Red Dragon 2002 movie (I know it is not a series as such) was wondering if you would possibly compare this movie with one of my favorites in the genre, which is Manhunter from 1986 directed by my favorite director, Michael Mann? It stars William Petersen (CSI show), Dennis Farina and Brian Cox as Hannibal Lecktor. I think aside from the Silence of the Lambs, this is by far the best movie it the genre by far. I would absolutely love to see you take a crack at it and see your take, (since I am sure you never, ever have any other requests like this, I am sure you will get right on it. lmfao) My sincere best to you and yours, mate.... (that even sounds weird to me in my head, being a scrubby American who normally uses "bub", just wanted you to not have to look it up in google translate, ya big dope! JK JK) Much love to all your hard work and hilariousness in general.... Cheers, (again, so as not to have to use google translate)

Very underrated movie. Yes the script was not perfect like 1st or 2nd movie, but it was well done. I also liked Nick Stahl as JC, he made me believe that this can be the path John could take in future. People tend to change and question everything they were told in before. Visuals were exceptionally good, Third act shocked me when i was a kid, T-X was brilliant idea. My very favorite is 1st one, but i rewatch T3 occassionally

It’s hilarious how no one ever mentions that Connor takes phenobarbital to treat the pain from his motorcycle accident. Phenobarbital is a barbiturate used to treat epilepsy and seizures. It’s in no way used to treat pain. I always found this movie enjoyable. It's not the best in the series, but it's not the worst. Excellent breakdown, as always, Paul. Thanks for always bringing us the best, see you on the next one.

Hate it or love it, T3 and its ending was necessary as it wouldn't make sense for Judgement Day to be stopped when John Connor still exist, since his father was from the future using time machine, that was created Skynet that they've destroyed, to be sent back in time. I believe that the Terminator series shouldn't have been rebooted. They should have made two more movies after *Salvation* and the sixth film should have ended with Resistance defeating Skynet and sending Reese back in time (1984) to stop the terminator. And the post-credit scenes should have been Resistance sending T-800 back to 1995 to protect John before blowing the place up. Both fade out to black, before the 1st credit roll and after 2nd credits, should have included stock footage of T1 and T2 of both Arnie Terminators arriving at their send timeline.

I always said that this movie's only real saving grace is how it ends. T1 already said judgement day is just gonna happen T2 effectively breaks what is a closed loop open then T3 puts it back on track.

terminator 3 is my favorite in the series. though it's bullshit we haven't gotten a saving Private Ryan style terminator war movie when the plot of such movie is flat out stated in the OG during Dr. Silberman interrogation of Reese. 40-41 years a terminator war movie(that every terminator fan wants) has been looking Hollywood dead in the eye and they are blind to see it. simple premise: Upon discovering Skynet’s plot to kill Sarah Connor in the past, John Connor leads a group of Resistance Fighters to get to and take control of a TDE lab complex. Their mission: to send a hardened soldier back in time to shield Sarah Connor from a ruthless T-101 terminator. As they battle against time and an unrelenting enemy, their goal is clear-to prevent a catastrophic alteration of history and preserve the future of humanity. I literally came up with this premise in 30 seconds in 2003! a week after I watched T-3 in theaters and as I was watching 'Saving Private Ryan.'
