@heavyspoilers - So wait, in the subway tunnel scene, how did you not see that Whistler fell in the gap between the platform and the passing train, and then when Karen and Blade jump to the other side of the tunnel after the train has passed, and another train starts speeding by, they see Whistler climb into a hatch down into a service tunnel? I've been watching the movie every year since it came out, and every time I spotted Whistler climbing into the hatch down into the service tunnel, he was never meant to die in that scene, he just escapes to meet up with Blade and Karen later. EDIT: One more thing, if you go back to the Spider-Man cartoon we got in the 1990's (before the first Blade movie ever came out), Blade was a daywalker-vampire in the cartoon too, although he rode around on a motorcycle and not in the Dodge Charger he gets in all three movies.

Maybe, except lots of stories that Snipes acted like a temperamental drama Queen on set and treated the rest of the cast and crew like dirt. Supposedly in one scene, where Snipes character was being revived in a medical setting, Snipes was supposed to briefly open his eyes, but was in a tiff and flat out refused. So they had to add the eye opening later with really creepy early CGI.

Blade being a Daywalker tutored by Whistler appeared at least as far back as the 1993 Spider-Man animated series. There’s even a story arch where Blade hunts Spider-Man believing he’s a vampire during the neogenic nightmare story arch. The 1999 Blade movie was not the first intro of these character traits.

One of my favorite things about this movie was how they shamelessly borrowed from the RPG Vampire the Masquerade for worldbuilding. The clans, the human servants embedded in society as cops and doctors, the vampire culture all were nods to what had been developing in vampire mythology since 1980. It was great, and made Blade feel like fully fleshed out world.

In the dvd features it’s revealed that some of the vampire glyphs, especially the ones tattooed on the neck, are clan symbols. Each clan had a different origin story, similar to the WoD pen and paper games. Quinn was from a vampire clan that could only be killed via a decapitation. Also, when Blade cuts Frost in half his reaction was taken from an old raunchy comedy called The Kentucky Fried Movie, he was imitating a Bruce Lee parody…and there that’s the stuff this video missed.

@charlinmugova2437 Жыл бұрын
I still watch it
@jimdoom2276 Жыл бұрын
@@Thor-Orionactually, I think it IS quite fair to consider the Guardians as at least a distinct category within the MCU, and perhaps even separate. This is because, IMHO, James Gunn was canny enuf to select a comics IP that was so sprawling and obscure, that he essentially had licence to make a completely original trilogy, rather than having to adapt pre-existing characters and storylines. I mean, yes, technically it IS an adaptation of pre-existing comic characters, but it bears absolutely zero resemblance to it's source material. The source material is so obscure though, that nobody in the audience gives a damn, lol 😂😅🤣
@Thor-Orion Жыл бұрын
@@jimdoom2276 it doesn’t bear much resemblance to the source material, but the characters he chose did have a lot of parallels with their comic counterparts. He accomplished this by choosing mostly characters who were only recently made members of the Guardians in the 2008 relaunch. His version of Rocket was obviously more mature than the older comic counterpart, but as a big time Rocket enthusiast since my childhood I was still incredibly pleased with his adaptation of the character. I was a little worried when I saw the first trailers because although I did like the Guardians 2008 run, I loved Rocket as his own character and knew how complex and compelling he could be as a character, he was the main reason I even picked up the 2008 run of Guardians in the first place. But the writing and voice acting brought him to life in the best way I could have hoped. I’ll always be grateful to James Gunn for doing right by Rocket.
@Thor-Orion Жыл бұрын
@@jimdoom2276 I also broke my boycott of Disney for Guardians III and I’m glad I did. I went right back to the boycott after, but I couldn’t not support GotG 3, they had done such good work with the series and characters prior to it that that I felt it was worth it to make the exception for it, and I was thankfully proven correct with that decision. James Gunn has done right by me.

I took the no more roots scene as him wanting to sever all emotional ties and not be tied down to any one location(his base got raided) and/or person Whistler) . This way he'll avoid the pain that will inevitably come as he will out live any humans he bonds with. It would also mean his enemies wouldn't be able to use his side kicks/friends/family as a weak points and leverage. This ended up not being the case though(or maybe he changed his mind); as in the sequel he went off to reclaim/rescue his roots being Whistler. I didn't include Darrel as a root, as Blade never truly trusted him (seen in the ending) and was just using him for his skills.
@chrisb4131 Жыл бұрын
I think it's more he saw Frost as the root of the problem and severing it/Deacon would sever the power structure before he took his cure that he mindchanged later.
