This is incredible. I'd bawl my eyes out if they ever played Pink Maggit in full live.

I love this a little more than the recorded version, and Pink Maggit might be my favorite song ever.

the guitar tone is way more amazing here than in the album
@junkyardwillie83203 жыл бұрын
I wish i could find a studio quality bersion out there. Guitar tone is great, and i prefer this sadder sounding key and vocals to the album version. At least a good quality live recording of the full song would do, but i don’t think they’ve ever played it in full. Shame, might be the best song off the album imo, and one of the best album closers ever
@codymorse24843 жыл бұрын
Natural born farmer, I totally agree. The drop c tuning works because that's the tuning the rest of the record is in but as stand alone tracks, both tunings sound great.

Isn’t back to school the short version of pink maggit?
@codymorse2484 Жыл бұрын
@M&N Distribution Not necessarily. Back to School only exists because the label wanted another single so they suggested a reworking of Pink Maggit into a rap rock thing. Chino said it took him 30 minutes to slap it together. They pretty much don't recognize it these days as it's not on reissues of White Pony.

As a 80’s kid, 90’s teen I can tell you: some things were great, some things just sucked. But the music was great. Hearing White Pony when I was 16 in 2000 really hit me hard. Especially Pink Maggit.

Anyone know why they don’t really play Pink Maggit live?
@zekevearing70043 жыл бұрын
Guessing because Back to School is a "commercial" rework of the song, maybe there's a contract between them and Maverick that doesn't allow them to play it often, but just speculation based on the history of how Back to School came into existence (:
@The-Seventies2 жыл бұрын
I guess they assume the song works better on a record, listening all alone by yourself. At least, that’s how I feel about it. Most ‘soft’ songs don’t work as great as the harder songs do live. I personally don’t mind they don’t play it live, it makes the song even more magical to me.

you ever hear of camcorders?
@brunovieira46305 жыл бұрын
@@rickyyyl3873 People with camcorders would go the balcony to film shows, and then sell them online, that's how we managed to get live videos back in the days before youtube was even a thing. Besides, if someone would take a camcorder to the front in those years the camera wouldn't survive. Miss those days when everyone just lived the moment and went crazy at shows.

Imagine being almost 40 years old trying to show your son this video. I just did that and he's like "yea.. nice pixels dad!" then he looked at me like I'm a loser. Kids these days will never understand how amazing Deftones was in their prime. Deftones was the reason I didn't become the first school shooter in history. Kids that grew up in the 80s didn't get offended. We just listened to this as loud as humanly possible until we were content with our pathetic lives. 😎

im 18 turning 19, discovered the early albums (adrenaline, around and pony) over the past month and holy shit they are so good, my favorite band ever is nirvana and a bunch of indie bands so this is a perfect in between harder sides of metal and the softer rock, they’re so good i wish i grew up with them, they have a warm ass place in my heart now
