Little surprise but most of musicians like not only their genre.For example,Kanye West likes metal, IDM, DNB,techno,hardcore punk, soul and prog rock(and I didn't mention another genres cuz it'll be a looong list). Listen Mike Patton who performed in 50-100 subgenres of music. Listen Beastie Boys who were hardcore punks but ended as one of the greatest Hip Hop bands who were experimenting like crazy. Neo-classical orchestra performs metal or electronic music like nothing).Real music fan will always like not only few genres but a lot(in my 24 I heard about 25k compositions and 400 subgenres)

@@sandansaiyan5675 you count & track every song & sub genre you have ever listened to in over 20 years?
@sandansaiyan5675 Жыл бұрын
@@inatklw yes.Because I'm curious what actually I can listen.Some of genre like hyperpop or retrowave can be easily detected by listening but some genres are very hard to get.Also if OST for movies/tv series or avant-garde music have diverse and wide range of subgenres like Cowboy Bebop or for example Mike Patton's works(the most famous avant-garde rock singer who used around 100 different style of music and never stops trying to find something new like his Me Bungle's last thrash metal album which he never released) it's interesting what people were using in specific place.It's like a riddle. Even Chino and his Deftones are being called Radiohead from metal for mixing and changing genres.Look at their work.Starting from nu metal they played post-punk, post-hardcore, shoegazing, synth-pop, trip hop,art metal,dream pop and many other things.People are trying to be interesting and surprising their fans by searching new way of making their music enjoyable which many nu metal artists didn't make and most of them lost popularity or changed their music(Slipknot was never full nu metal but even they started making something unique). And if you've also meant my remembering by heart every single genre hell no.I can't remember everything just looking at thing once😂I can't recognize some genres and wikipedia doesn't always help if artist isn't popular and you try guessing only for your knowledge. And some genres I can't understand in concrete places,like,I can't say so big difference between bluegrass and folk music or darkwave and industrial rock from time to time Sorry for big message 😅
@connorsoileau47634 ай бұрын
@@sandansaiyan5675 Bluegrass is like folk but more country. Industrial rock vs Darkwave is a hard one. Jeremiah Guy it's particularly interesting because of how The Deftones really pretty much defined a genre, and even if you don't agree with that, they absolutely spawned soooo many wanabees and copy cat bands. And they allll, and I mean nearly ALLL, suck SOOO much, specifically because of how fake they are, and how they have to put effort into an image, style and attitude that unbelievably came entirely natural to the Deftones. I don't listen to many other bands in the EXACT same vein as the Deftones, and not many that even come close either, yet they are in my top 3 bands of all time. How they were able to tap into their own life experience and personality to bring out so much raw passion, emotion, energy and anger, is surpassed by few. Like seriously. You can't fake what they do and get away with it.

If anyone is surprised by the diverse tastes of this band, you’re not really listening to their music.

The song that inspired me to play guitar was my own summer. I always liked metal, but ever since I listened to deftones I just wanted to play their songs. Love these guys so much.

Culture club makes a lot of sense. You can see where he molded that kind of sensual, deliberate vocal style into the deftones.

I seriously hope that the Deftones are like Rod Stewart in the amount of albums they create and put out music for the rest of my life. They single handedly save music in my soul for me that they still write and tour.

Holy shit I just looked to see how many albums Rod Stewart has & theres like 30. I probably know less than 30 songs by Rod Stewart but Stay with me is good shit

Nicely said on Weezer's blue album, classic, 10/10. LOL about Coldplay. His explanation of them perfectly describes my feelings about RHCP, I've never been able to get anything out of them, even though I respect the band in general. For me it's the audio equivalent of eating a dry, unsalted chicken breast.

Had some live Deftones track on Napster back in the day and Chino starts off with chanting "Guess who's got ticket to Weeezer!" or something like and a friend of mine would chant it randomly at each other. Ahhh good times.
