Something that a lot of people don't give the Henson company credit for is the fact that all their puppets never look uncanny or creepy. That's the type of vibe I got from the show through this video
@AnimeGames165 жыл бұрын
With the Muppets, yes. With them, Jim Henson completely mastered the art of modern, non-uncanny valley puppetry. The Creature Shop stuff, on the other hand, is a whole different ball game. Just look at the Skeksis from The Dark Crystal in comparison!
@HandmadeGoose975 жыл бұрын
@@AnimeGames16 when they were making creepy looking puppets on purpose that also is something they were good at
@avosmash21215 жыл бұрын
@@AnimeGames16 I disagree to a minor degree- Skeksis were after all, intended to be scary 100% and with exception of the Emperor who dies in the first act, and the scientist, who is part cyborg, I would not call anyone 'uncanny', just creepy in a cool, menacing, intentional threatening way, they are very amazing puppets which for such a unique design, bear a striking amount of 'life' and personality in their faces. The emperor is supposed to be nearly dead, so it made sense for him to have that doll-like terrifying blank stare into the distance, while the scientist is probably supposed to the scariest one of all. The real culprit of Uncanny Valley syndrome, in my opinion in the Dark Crystal, would be the Gelflings, who are supposed to be the elf-like cute heroes, but have strangely the least expressive features, and their eyes hardly ever blink or change shape. They resemble stiff wooden dolls to me, where as the Skeksis have a lot more expressive movements in not just their facial structure, but their hands and body movements are extravagant and theatrical. There are many other Creature Shop puppets which are pretty awful in terms of Uncanny Valley factor. A lot are minor one shot puppets from tv specials or other children's shows.
@AnimeGames165 жыл бұрын
@@avosmash2121 I totally agree with you on that actually! I guess I was just using the Skeksis as examples of notoriously creepy Creature Shop puppets, not entirely grasping the definition of uncanny valley.

Do you think you could potentially make an episode covering Blue's Clues? That show was a major staple of my childhood, and, while it isnt going to be defunct for any longer, with the new show airing soon, it didn't have any new episodes for a very long time, but the show was so popular that they brought it back so many times, with the 10th anniversary episode, that live Nickelodeon music show, there were so many things that were made because of the sheer amazingness and staying power of the show. I think it could be a good example of a show that was so popular, that even when the show was taken off the air, and Nickelodeon wanted to try to move away from it, the fans made it so that this show could never go defunct.

So, in case nobody died of pure childhood memories, here's the list of DefunctTV episodes in order... 1: Bear in the Big Blue House 2: Legends of the Hidden Temple 3: Zoboomafoo 4: Between the Lions 5: The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss(The subject of this video.) I don't know about you guys, but I actually grew up with 60% of these shows on a personal level. If that doesn't display how many of my feelings come back to me, then I don't know what else could.

What is the 40% of childhood nostalgia.
@IdeaBox-dk5vj5 жыл бұрын
Actually, what I meant to say was that, so far in the series, I have contracted 60% nostalgia, rather than the implied 40%. However, this might drastically change if "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" or "Dragon Tales" get episodes in the future. Whether it's for better or for worse is up for debate.

I saw the Seussical live back in the day. Starring Aaron Carter for some reason. I only remember two things about it: 1. That it mostly involved Horton Hears a Who and the Better Butter Battle, and 2. and there was a gag right before Intermission where the curtain fell during the final note, and then fell completely to the stage. That was my favorite part of the musical.

I remember watching this as a kid as something I rented back in the early mid-2000's on either VHS or DVD. It had either just one or 2 episodes, maybe 3, on it and I remember kinda liking it. I had thought it was kinda strange seeing the Dr. Seuss characters in Muppet form. So far, so good. I'm loving this series. So far it's all been stuff from my childhood. I hope you do some other children shows I watched as a kid, such as The Big Comfy Couch, Wimzie's House, The Noddy Shop, and maybe The Toy Castle.

You know even though dr.seuss never had children he some how did through his books. Like he secretly knew that even though he would not have children he some how would through his books and despite not liscencing his characters he knew that these characters will have to live on after his death and that much like with the shorts adaptations of his books he knew the books would one day be adaptated again but for a bigger screen and with some small to big differences from his original stories. In other words he was some how ahead of Hollywood and his own company beyond his books.

There is this one show that I forgot the name of but would be a great DefunctTV episode. All I remember is that there were multiple people dressed in colored costumes, each character a different color. Every episode the characters tried to find the character named Moe, a yellow or green person that said, “Here I am!” He is the only character that I remember the name of. Also, I remember seeing an animated reboot of the show (like Wild Kratts). I saw the show in the early 2010’s, I think. Since the animated version looked more polished than the original, I am pretty sure that the live action show is canceled. I’m pretty sure this show aired on Noggin, but I am not 100% sure about it. If anyone can remember the show name, then that would be great.

@PikaPlayer Gaming That sounds a lot like The Wiggles. A show where four male characters dressed in red, green, blue, and purple respectively. Their costumes weren't really that special, just plain matching shirt, and pants. The show would be them doing random things, losing Jeff (the guy in purple) and singing about it, finding him, and sometimes signing "hot potato, cold spaghetti" . Does this ring any bells?

I had a first season episode on a Jim Henson DVD, which when I got older, I had vague memories of it, including memories of dreams after watching it to sleep, and after I found the case, it didn't have a DVD inside, and when I found the disc in a DVD zip-up thing. It was scratched up, but I didn't figure this out until it froze and glitched out after the Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss ended. It was protected from breaking by a DVD in front of it called Noah's Ark, which is broken in three seperate pieces now. With all that said, this video left me happy to see the Wubbulous world again.

This show scared me so much because of Cat in the Hat. I hated him. I hated watching this show. I watched this at my grandma's house. The only one I liked was Horton. Everyone else scared me. My sister thought she dreamed one of the episodes where they get sucked into the vacuum. We still have the DVDs since my grandma moved. But they freak me out. Too much. I miss Bear in the Big Blue House, though. The mouse was super cool. Oh yeah. In Universal, the Grinch wanted to fight my dad, and me. I never went on the cat in the Hat ride there when I went the first time, when I was 5. I was scared of it. But then when I was 13, we went back. I hated the ride. I went on twice. My sister made the ride stop the second time because she wanted to take a picture, and I wanted to die and cry. I was...scared of the live action cat in the Hat. I still am because of the nightmare I had.

I have a vague memory of watching this, I was probably 3 or 4 and there was some sort of party at my house, it might have been a Christmas party. it was playing the tape on a small CRT televison I had had my bedroom, I only stopped in there for a small bit to watch it and went back to the party and ate a lot of shredded cheese. Weird how I remember this but it brings a warm feeling of nostalgia anytime I remember it.
