This was one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Two incredibly intelligent and well spoken people just discussing elements of a film that no one would ever even think to talk about. I love hearing about the details in the backstory of how this film was made. Can’t wait to see it.

Having watched the film, hearing that E.T. was a big influence on Jon M. Chu absolutely clears when watching the Defying Gravity sequence. Much of that sequence is straight up the ending of E.T.

Jon M. Chu is a gift, and I'm so grateful he became the one to take over this ambitious project. He gets it. Never seen Jacqueline before but she's lovely to listen to and a wonderful interviewer. Very natural, informed conversation that is deeply insightful. I'll be checking out more of her interviews!

Patience is virtue .....just as it took decades to put together. .the planning of this movie....so be EXCITED that it's not over and done in one year...❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Big ups to the Director and ARIANA AND CYNTHIA 😂😂😂😂Well selected...over a series of auditions 😊

Jon M. Chu sounds like a delightful director to work with. It seems like the set was a very positive space that fostered creativity and passion for all involved. Artistic vision is one thing, but I, as an outsider looking in, think the best directors know how important a good working environment is to making a collaborative masterpiece. And I'm glad that was the philosophy that he saw in some of the others in the industry, and he seems to be bringing to work in his own career. "It starts at the top" , y'know? I'm really excited to see this film!!!

When I first heard Jon was going to do Wicked, I was already in musical heaven before seeing In The Heights. The Step Up sequels were good. But the original movie is DA BOMB! Now that he brought Scorsese up, I wonder if he’s seen Hugo since it’s something Jon should show his kids.

@@vinidiz the movie’s been in the works since 2012 and I believe Daldry was associated with it since the beginning & confirmed director in 2015 but dropped it Oct 2020, then Chu took over early 2021 (still in lockdown times technically lol)

Not that it matters but I'm a little confused. First he said everyone auditioned, then it sounds like he just texted Jeff Goldblum and Michele and gave them the parts lol.

I got the impression that the auditions he spoke of were for Galinda & Elphaba specifically (he said "everyone in town wanted these roles" or something like that)
@Jagoldelgado2 ай бұрын
@@anog999 ooo I guess that makes sense.
@victoriat79612 ай бұрын
I mean for Michelle it makes sense, she said that they were already in production (or maybe rehearsals i’m not sure) when Jon called her to ask her to be Madame Morrible and Ariana and Cynthia recorded a video telling her it was “imperative” that she join them. They’re good friends as we know and she had just won an Oscar, it makes sense she wouldn’t have to audition. As far as Jeff Goldblum goes idk if they knew each other before but his entire catalog and personality screams the Wizard, it would also make sense to just offer him the part.
