Batman Arkham Origins is a game I talk about a lot, because I truly do believe it's vastly underrated and has an amazing story involving Batman, Joker, Alfred, Bane and more. This story works as an origin for several characters, while establishing the dark and cold world of Gotham City.

It's so interesting how in City too Joker, despite wanting to hurt Batman, admits he doesn't want to kill him when he warns him in the tower that he set to explode that he needs to get out of there now, or Batman will ruin everything, giving him even extra time after the countdown.

I love this game because it PERFECTLY adapted my 3 favorite Batman comics! Year One: Establishing Batman’s early years as wearing the cowl, and his friendship with Jim Gordon. Also showing the corruption in Gotham/GCPD Killing Joke: exploring Batman’s twisted relationship with Joker and the parallels between the two. Also exploring Jokers character/Orgin Knightfall: Exploring Banes character, and intellect while also showing his SHIVERING feud/obsession with Batman It’s so fun to read these comic books and then play the game and constantly point out “OOH I REMEMBER THAT from the comic!” The Arkham series has amazing Easter eggs!

It was a stroke of genius to make Arkham Origins not a Batman Origin story, but an origin about the relationship between Batman and Joker. After playing the game, and seeing the ending, it suddenly became really clear to me what the Arkham series was trying to say, and I love it.

As if he’s implying that there’s a chance Batman may not have even been involved in his actual origin in this universe but his new obsession with the Dark Knight has convinced him that Batman was there the entire time. Also the setting like just something about it being at Xmas aswell, what with all the Xmas stories in the cartoons and ofc batman returns, plus they did the characters better from villains to Alfred being more than just a loyal butler and taking on more of a fatherly approach like he’s been shown to do in the past in other media

I like Troy Baker. He sounds just like Mark Hamill’s animated series Joker but with an Arkham twist. Adriene Antoine does a great job capturing Batman’s youthful anger. He also does a great job differentiating Bruce from Batman. It reminded me of Kevin Conroy doing a softer, naive voice for Bruce. It’s like there’s two people in Batman’s head when talking to Alfred.

I enjoy the twist and relationship between Batman and Joker in this game. Though it was stupid to kick Black Mask out of the story after the reveal and move him into a side mission, without even a boss fight, that's the same as the side mission with Bane in Arkham City.

To be fair, after the reveal you still have the part where you go to the steel mill and have to rescue Sionis. But I agree, he could have been more involved in the main storyline.

The impact origins has in the Arkham franchise as a whole is actually quite substantial as I personally don’t think that Arkham knight works that well without origins setting up the obsession between Batman and Joker

I thought Troy Baker did a superb job as the voice of the clown prince of crime, who has been immortalised by Mark Hamill as Joker. Arkham origins will always be my favorite arkham game and I still hope they make a sequel one day. 10:43 Little fun fact in the harley quinn show Scarecrow revealed his identity as bruce wayne and Joker yelled at scarecrow for ruining the fun that he and batman share. 23:04 just a little recommendation here Jay, but if you get a chance read Geoff John's Batman: three Jokers from DC Comics we're at the ending of that comic in part 3 Joker explains to Batman after he's been captured and taken back to Arkham Asylum that he's known all along who Batman, Batgirl and red hood are, but he also tells him that he doesn't care about who is and won't tell anyone.

See, I never really "cared" about VA changes. I was just miffed because of how "broken" the game was at launch and I never got to play it when it came out because of it. Thing is, VA changes will happen all the time. Especially now a days with celebs who used to voice characters growing old and starting to think about retirement or just plain pass away. That said, as long as their replacements DO WELL, I don't care who voices who at the end of the day as long as it MAKES SENSE. This Joker was absolutely fantastic as far as I'm concerned and wouldn't mind seeing the guy return to reprise the roles. Hammil and Conroy will always have places in my heart for what they've done for the franchise but there's always room in my heart for more if done well.

I like how they allude to one of the Joker's origins without making it a plot point, or even really mentioning it at all. I mean I suppose the Joker Red Hood info is in there somewhere. A lot of comic book background is. But after decades of films that scream attention to anything remotely relevant, it's nice how games will just throw things in like Easter eggs, and let us think what we will. My feeling is that Origins has been seriously underrated by many gamers. It's pretty brilliant. I loved making my way up the hotel floor by floor and listening to the Joker's monologue, feeling like I want to shut him up but at the same time loving it.

It also makes you think, was Batman even there when joker had his accident, or was that an insert from Joker now that he's obsessed with Batman? There's a lot of different questions they do a good job of posing without fully answering but not in a lazy way. You are right, a lot of the times media will go "LOOK AT THIS, REMEMBER THIS?!," Or on the other extreme it will try and act like it's posing questions but you know the people who wrote it have no answers and it was just lazy writing. I'm glad they didn't do that here.

When it first came out Arkham Origins was definitely underrated and does so many things very well and in many cases better than Arkham Knight. More recently however people have gone back to this game and have praised it for its great story and amazing performances and it has in my opinion the second best story in the series with the first being Arkham City. The game has a great story and fantastic characterization, with Batman, Alfred, Joker, Gordon and Bane being the standouts, the boss fights are all memorable and the best without a doubt in the Arkham series (although overall the Mr. Freeze fight from Arkham City is the best) and it's certainly better than any boss fight in Arkham Knight or even Arkham Asylum. It's also the only game where you can go to the Batcave. Not to mention that it also has the best DLC out of all the Arkham games with Cold Cold Heart. I also adore the music and soundrack composed for the game by Christopher Drake. In the last few years people have gone back to the game and have praised it a lot more for its story, characterization and nuances in its story.

I want to see and play the Batman game that's supposed to be some 'masterpiece' instead of a hot mess that's only remarkable in how it didn't actually execute any potential story concepts even vaguely competently. I'm not trying to be confrontational, but there's no way to really be polite in rebutting such blind infatuation. Since day one there's been such fawning, ridiculous praise that has ensured its reputation as a production and adaptation vastly outshines what it actually is: rushed, haphazard, vapidly-written, melodramatic, laughable, cringey garbage. As the saying goes, it's far easier to fool someone than convince them they have been fooled. And when they actively want to fool themselves it's almost impossible. Good thing the vast majority of the gameplay was really upgraded and has the series' best challenge mode, otherwise the ludicrous fawning it gets would be even more embarrassing.

Something I found interesting in Arkham City, Joker (Clayface) says the line when u enter the Steel Mill later in the game "Why did it all end in a church?". I think he is referencing the series 'Lost', but it's interesting that the Joker and Batman beginning chapter of their relationship ended in a church in Arkham Origins.

In Batman Arkham knight in the jokers knight made scene where you lock him up and he screams for u I felt bad I think arkhams joker is my favourite and I don't mind how he was in every game hell is I made Arkham knight I would make it so Batman felt guilty and then hardly Quinn had a baby all alone so then Batman digs up jokers body because in my version he was buried and then went to Ras Al ghul and used lazurus to bring his back alive also I don't mind troy Baker as joker I loved Arkham origins joker hes my fav Arkham origins is my favourite it's has the best bosses

I was one of the people who didn't care for this version. It felt like a mix of the Jared Leto tryhard Joker & the classic Hamill one. There's a very fine line you have to walk when portaying the Joker. If you go too far in either direction, it can become annoying or even laughable. Also, this game is the reason Joker in Arkham Knight got so much shité from fans. It was leftover anger from them blatantly lying & making this game about Jokers origin instead, lol.

It’s obviously not a traditional sort of love by any means (becuase he’s a homicidal psychopath), but yes. It’s been outright stated multiple times in the comics that the Joker considers himself to be in love with Batman (for example - Catwoman #14). It’s up to the authors on whether or not Joker is sexually attracted to Batman as well. He usually makes flirty remarks and sex jokes, but it can be said he does it just to get people uncomfortable. In any case, one of the many reasons why Harley left the Joker for good was because she realized he would always love Batman and never her. Batman and Joker have had like 40+ years worth of homoerotic innuendos, extreme codependency and sadomasochistic proclivities. Some comics highligting it are The Dark Knight Returns, Death In The Family, Arkham Asylum: a serious house on serious earth (which the first arkham game was influenced by) and Batman: Europa.
