Read a few App Store reviews and some others online, where people are saying that DashCommand doesn’t have support for or recognize vehicles newer than 2014. Can someone confirm? I have a 2015 Audi S3 and don’t want to buy the app if it’s not going to work lol.

I've been reading the same thing. I loaded DashCommand's reviews until the start of 2016 and I've seen a number of people mentioning lack of support past 2014. Also, on Palmer Performance's website there hasn't been an update since 2014 on the news page as well. www.palmerperformance.com/news.php A little sad to say that lack for anything past 2014 is a strong possibility. Thanks for watching!

You said you don't need a boost gauge if you don't have a turbo, actually you do need a vacuum/boost Gauge so you can see if you have a vacuum leak because that could be dramatic loss in power

Torque is hands down the best imhop. I've used Dashcommand quite frequently in the past. However, with all the add-ons & simple customizable display, I ended up staying with Torque Pro. Only down side are the cost. I also use RpmItUp (paid version) on my 2012 Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe FLSTN (Can-Bus protocol, on the OBD plug: pins 4 & 5 = ground/ pin 6 = can high/ pin 14 = can low/ pin 16 = +12vdc. ... ... 6 pin Deutsch connector on Harley: pin 1 = can high/ pin 2 = ground/ pin 3 = can low/ pin 5 = +12vdc power).

I've been messing around with both the last week...and have only one big problem with each. Torque has problems calculating mileage...the addon that comes with it does better, but isn't customizable...DashCommand does near perfect on gas mileage. On DashCommand, I've had it freeze up with connecting and disconnecting Android Auto...other than that, its everything anyone would want out of OBD app. At this point I'm sticking with DashCommand, other than the hiccup with Android Auto, it seems to handle all the data better.

Thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to do this comparison video. I was rather undecided which I wanted. I'm wondering, did I notice DashCommand will broadcast both BlueTooth and Wi-Fi and Torque is only BT? No big deal either way but I wondered if I picked up on that in the 2 descriptions of the apps.
@DegenerateMotoring
@DegenerateMotoring 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! To the best of my knowledge Torque (both lite and pro) can connect via wifi. Should be under Settings > OBD2 Adapter Settings > Connection > then pick "wifi". Honestly, I think dashcommand has a much better user experience, better feature set (even against Torque Pro), and is just better day to day. However, if you're just trying to figure out whats wrong/clear a code after solving an issue, or end to add extra sensors than what's out of the box, Torque is the way to go.

Lag is honestly more dependent on your phone and how loaded up it is. I have the same adapter...and when I used Torque with my main phone (S7 Active) it lags like crazy. With my much less powerful Tab 4 8.0 I recently put in my dash...there's literally zero lag. That tablet is bare bones though, and only has auto specific apps installed.

The horsepower and torque numbers are VERY optimistic. Apparently a stock audi s5 has 400hp and 600lbs of torque. You can tell it is just calculating these numbers because the higher you in the rpm range, the more horsepower you get, which is not always the case and in my case it definitely isn’t, since peak hp is around 5 or 6 for my car. I don’t know still don’t trust this thing yet. Has anyone actually used this thing and does it actually read codes?

I noticed you liked one of my shots on Instagram, and thought I'd check out your channel; coincidentally, I am currently tossing up what OBD program I want to use in my GT86. I have a Samsung Ultrabook with a busted screen that I'm wanting to install into my 86, and mount a 7" or so screen to the passenger-side of the dash to display diagnostic information. So with that in mind I am leaning more towards DashCommand as they have a PC version of their software, and because it has a bit more polish over Torque. But! I have an old Nexus 7 tablet that I could use instead and use Torque... Decisions, decisions.

I have paid versions of both apps. In my experience Torque's mpg is extremely optimistic. My 03 F150 SuperCrew gets 10-12 average real mpg (traveled miles divided by actual fuel pumped at fill up). Torque shows it at 15mpg plus. Currently after 60 miles, DashCommand is at 9.9mpg average. Much closer to reality. I just installed DashCommand the other day, so I'll be interested to see what a full tank calculates out to. One reason I think DashCommand is more accurate, is because it's measuring actual fuel flow demand based on your ECM as compared to how many miles you've traveled, vs the typical vacuum/load x distance reference I believe Torque makes. In addition, it asked me for a LOT more parameters than Torque...including gear ratios for 1-4th and axle, vehicle weight (6200lbs with gas, full size spare, and me!), and a number of other bits of vehicle specific info.
@CrisAnderson27
@CrisAnderson27 6 жыл бұрын
Quick update. I've been using DashCommand for a few months now, and the more you use it and update, the more accurate it reads. The only negative is it used to sometimes randomly skip miles driven (I am anal about making sure it's on and connected before moving the truck)...but it hasn't done that for 4 or 5 tanks now. Not sure what was up. Other than that it's REALLY close to my actual calculated mileage. Pretty happy with it overall.
