Whether he'd have the tolerance for all the pressures is another question, and he'd face a battle with those who think you have to believe in some _supernatural power_ to be a good person! Back in the late 60s when I was in college studying geography, climate/weather, geology, etc. a physics professor used the example of taking all the reels of film of all the Hollywood movies. Take all those reels of film and string them out in a line. Next hook those pieces of film together end to end. The length of a human lifetime is one frame of film in that long line. I've never forgotten that lecture to this day. As humans we have little or no concept of geologic time. It is for this same reason that people don't have any concept of evolution. The time scale just doesn't register except in the minds of scientists who can see and understand the evidence and the objective facts. It's no wonder young earth creationists cannot grasp the concept as it relates to a book written in a mostly illiterate Iron Age Era. Too these folks the idea is just too vast. The problem with the scale of time is what causes people to believe climate change is not real because they don't see the scale. In the new COSMOS series Dr. Tyson speaks about periods of extinction that happened over millions of years. If we blow off climate change there will eventually come a time when people say, "Oh snap!" The atmosphere will warm, oceans will rise and most of the species on earth will go extinct including humankind. Perhaps evolution over many millions of years will evolve new species who are a bit more intelligent and less self-destructive than we humans. Who knows? Earth will evolve and remain earth. We in our ignorance won't be around to see it. Climate change is fake? I think I'd be a bit more concerned about that conclusion.
@grahamnumber71234 жыл бұрын
TrikesterHal You are right about extinction events and these can be seen in the records. What's also noticeable is a continual downward trend of CO2. Humans are merely putting back something that's at geological record low levels that was once there already. While pollution is bad and there are negative effects the pros and cons must be looked at instead of the idea of anti human behaviour. Denying developing countries cheap abundant energy by virtue signalling westerners based on a consensus that doesn't actually exist except in a buddy buddy community of agreeing or being fired. Science welcomes criticism to get better. The MSM are pushing this narrative but behind the scenes the political establishment are polarising Americans in unfair ways for both sides. Decisions that affect humanity need to consider the + and - points otherwise THEN we fail. Net warming is +0.8C or something crazy if looking at >70failed projections. CO2 follows warming as seen here: www.researchgate.net/profile/J-E_Solheim/publication/257343053_The_phase_relation_between_atmospheric_carbon_dioxide_and_global_temperature/links/56e4581508ae68afa1106148/The-phase-relation-between-atmospheric-carbon-dioxide-and-global-temperature.pdf It frustrates me and others how the media and even NASA use Ice core data for a CO2 proxy even though is monotonic and barely fluctuates. The reasons for this are known. Sites like carbon brief and sceptical science are one and the same side of a coin. Research clearly shows their bias and adding one data set here from another there to paint a picture they want to is far from scientific. They then make predictions with models that are so ridiculous it beggars belief. They also make false claims about past CO2 levels never being over 280 PPM. Steinthorsdottir, M., Wohlfarth, B., Kylander, M. E., Blaauw, M., & Reimer, P. J. (2013). Stomatal proxy record of CO 2 concentrations from the last termination suggests an important role for CO 2 at climate change transitions. Quaternary science reviews, 68, 43-58. Fig 8 clearly shows how ice core has a rather sleepy 20PPM vs plant data 250 variation. Kouwenberg, L. L. R. (2004). Application of conifer needles in the reconstruction of Holocene CO2 levels. Another with pine needles. There was no driving of temperature then or now. These cycles are not on the IPCC AR5 report: Herrera, V. V., Mendoza, B., & Herrera, G. V. (2015). Climate science is nearly entirely driven by politics these days. Science has been lost for some time now. Mr. NDGT needs to take off his CO2 goggles and re-look at the science.

It's sad because at the 3:00 minute mark the climate question was asked. William's response the guy asks a question..."we've had relatively stable climate, no ice ages and not too hot" But then goes on to say " "If" the icecaps melt" this this and this are the results. Then the guy who asks the question says that's what he's afraid of. It was just a hypothetical. William said that the eartha climate is stable. People need to actually listen to what people say and focus on reality.

The first sign of sea level rise is the salification of the coastal ground soil which leads to decrease of the plantation and the increase of the desertification. Industries of neutralizing salt in water and food will bloom before the sea water take over the land and the mass population migration inland. Benefits: No more lawns (I hate cutting grass) because nothing can grow and towns in snow belt have less dark ice problems along the coast area during snow season since salt are everywhere now.

A Space Force is a good idea, all jokes aside, you need to be ahead or get left behind. Space is so difficult, everything just takes too long to plan and build. So when you realize you need it, it just might be too late. I'm Canadian and we completely lagged behind on rocketry and other space capabilities, so now we depend on others to launch our satellites into space. The reliance is horrible b/c we lose that sovereignty to the US and India. I just hope this Space Force doesn't take away funding from NASA but increases it

It is so interesting, this climate change. On my local news channel just days ago made the announcement that on this day in 1919 the temperature hit 105 degrees. I thought about this & wondered what the world population was at that time & how many motor vehicles were registered on our roads. 105 degrees! Think on that for a moment. I was living in London, England, in the mid 1960's & England was hit with one of it's hottest summers ever. I remember it being so hot that we could not stay in the house so we got chairs, etc, & sat out in the back yard. The year would have been 1964-1965. We came to Texas in 1989 & I remember the summer's Temps habitually running well over 100 degrees for weeks on end. My point? Quite simple. The weather here temperature wise has not changed much in the Lone Star state. When it's summer it gets HOT!! People could press me further about the British weather & ask does it get that hot in England? The answer to that is, no it does not. It was just one of those phenomenon that just happened. There were no chicken little's running around screaming that the sky was FALLING! They say that the sea level is rising because the glaciers are melting, but no one makes mention of the debris & the trash that we have dumped into the sea...much of it nestling on the ocean floor raising it's level over all these years. Another thought...the absurdity that many of us believe we can control mother nature. We are in control of NOTHING. Just a thought

wow, you people just see nefarious conspiracies everywhere don't you? How do you even get through the day with that much paranoia?
@stiimuli6 жыл бұрын
@@bradtherwood6966 Well first off....wtf does your nationality have to do with any of this? Second off, what makes you think Jones was afraid of agreeing with something? His job on this show is to ask questions so the guest can answer and then ask another question. Changing the subject is what a host is *supposed* to do when dealing with a limited time segment. Lastly, exactly what beliefs do you think I'm blinded by? I have stated no beliefs here. Assume much?
@bradtherwood69666 жыл бұрын
well I know what you mean when you say you people, so needed to clarify for you. Like what are you even saying, Jones is afraid to agree with anything because of the bias on news channels. (Once again so you dont flip your shit - fox also does this) and if thats his job hes absolute shit at it, because there was about a 2 minute video on the space force and about 30 seconds of neil response.
@stiimuli6 жыл бұрын
@@bradtherwood6966 I'm sorry but your attempt to assign motivation to something the host didn't do is just fractally wrong for a number of reasons: 1) As pointed out before, Jones is under no obligation to agree or disagree with a guest. His function there is to have the guest give their own viewpoint. 2) What makes you think he disagreed with what Neil said if he didn't express any disagreement? 3) Whether he actually agreed or disagreed, he is free to do so openly as he so chooses with no reprisals from anyone. 4) This isn't Fox where you have hosts openly crowing and ranting their own (often insane) viewpoint every day to tow a party/company line. The anchors and reporters on this network stay much more neutral on issues being reported and usually just let the guests and stories do most of the talking. If you're looking for the leftist equivalent of Fox try MSNBC....but even they aren't as shamelessly partisan as Fox is.
@bradtherwood69666 жыл бұрын
@@stiimuli theres the bias hahahahaha van jones syndrome got you, also if van jones isnt agreeing or disagreeing with anything than hes just shit at his job, bottom line. Sorry your favorite news channel blows like all the others. (And before you shout stop assuming - theres a lot of evidence to assume you feel that way, so if thats the case, youre also shit at expressing your view points or just a liar)
@harshbarj6 жыл бұрын
Science is the way to look into a question without assuming the answer. You let the facts lead you to the answer, rather than look for facts that fit your preconception.
@liquidminds6 жыл бұрын
If you ever assume the answer in science, the only next step is to try to disprove that assumption. You can use assumptions, but you can only start to believe in them, when you continue to fail to disprove them.
