Great haul of mangoes Jeff.. Our tree dropped a fair amount this year so only got an average crop.. Got a few kg in the freezer already so can't complain too much ;) Cheers

Hi Rob, thanks mate, well done there, the ones I left a bit of moisture in are good cheww'n, better than lollies:) I got a few more stragler mangoes y'day plus a heap more bunyas. A lot of the bunyas were fairly empty, but I got a good feed in the freezer.

I just have to get a dehydrator this year. Just wasting too much produce that doesn't last. I prefer dehydrated food to canning or preserving in salt or oil... cheers

G'day Paul, thanks mate, I priced some, some were $70 a kilo & the organic ones were $86. I reckon mine are better.

I have an Air Fryer Oven which has a Dehydrating option and I was wondering what temperature and how long to set the timer? I got my mangoes for $0.59 to $0.79 so I want to dehydrate some for when the price goes up. Any help I can get will be very much appreciated. If you don't mind I would really appreciate it TIA

Your dried mango no browning at all. Looked petty. My dried mango got brown color and not nice. Any tips? Temperature and hours you used? Slicing 1cm thickness?

When i buy packet dried mangos here the ingredients say mango and apple juice. They are not overly crispy. They have a chewyness too them which i like. Any idea what stage they would add apple juice? If there is still moisture in them when i pack them will they spoil? Gettin a dehydrator delivered today and dont want to ruin anything. Thanks.

Hi Kendyl, it's an exceptional good year for mangoes around here. I don't look at my power bill when I'm dehydrating mangoes or making sea salt. However the mangoes were free & I priced them in the shop at $86 for dehydrated organic mangoes, not that I'd go out & buy them. I'm looking forward to trying different things with them during the year. bye:)

couldn't you just put a little satchel of dried rice in the containers of the ones you think may have some in them. the rice will put out any condensation with no problem...
@mugsyjeff10 жыл бұрын
Thanks Trev, the rice satchel sounds like a good idea. Maybe not in my case right now as I have them packed fairly tight. I'll think about it when I need more room in the freezers, I'll spread them out into more containers when I use the rice. What I intended on doing is leave a sample out of the freezer & see what happens. Mainly because I dehydrated some pineapple once & it went mildewy. I mustn't have taken enough moisture out. I had good success with bananas over the years. cheers mate

I am not a fan of R2E2 mangoes... much prefer the Kensington... Dehydrating them is certainly a great idea... Thanks for the video :)
@mugsyjeff10 жыл бұрын
Your welcome, thank YOU, I also prefer the Kensingtons, but I think I can tolerate these R2E2's at the price. They made beautiful jam, relish & chutney & I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with these dehydrated ones through the year.

Absolutely gorgerous mangos. Any idea what variety they are??
@mugsyjeff10 жыл бұрын
Hi & thank you, these mangoes are the "R2E2" variety.
