Several ancient places in Scotland refer to Dierdre. I think the legend was once better known here and has been forgotten. I have just completed a short piece of music for orchestra called Dierdre of the Sorrows. Hoping to get a scaled-down version played soon.

I’m mad that this story says it was Diedre that caused all of the deaths and turmoil when really if the king had just given her a CHOICE and had not done what HE did, none of it would have happened. Therefore it was HIM that fulfilled her prophecy. Sorry for the feminist rant, but this story is so hauntingly beautiful and sad
