The Death of Cú Chulainn - A Legend from Ancient Ireland

As has become my annual St. Patricks Day tradition (uploaded the day before St. Paddys Day) here is another video telling a story from Ancient Irish Legend.
After last year telling the story of how Cú Chulainn got his name this year I tell the story of the death of one of Anceint Irelands greatest Warriors.

Oh man... I must have been really busy last mid March. How could I have missed this, Franklin? I always enjoy listening to your storytelling during St. Patrick's Day. Thanks for sharing the story of The Death of Cú Chulainn. It was enthralling. Wonderful footage of Cú Chulainn's Stone and the music you used is this video. Thanks a lot theses are great. I have recently started studying Irish myth and there need to be more videos like this out there. It is really an over looked myth system, but most people on the University of Maryland Quiz Bowl team agree that Irish myth is the best myth. Thanks for keeping these stories alive.

Wonderful video! Until I saw Fate/Zero I didn't know Irland had such beautiful stories. I cried at his story and his tragic fate, just like I cried at Diarmuid's. These two have become my favorite Irish heroes. Congratulations again !

I'll rather reffer to Cu Chulainn's tale as an Irish Tale, first and foremost, because Cu Chulainn and his deeds, are not found around Welsh, Iceni, Trinovantes and Belgae tribes.

I'm reading a book about Irish tales and just finished Cuchulainn's story. What I don't get about these tales is, how did the tuatha de danaan lose their rule over Ireland in a war, but cuchulainn, by himself, beat hundreds and hundreds of people by himself. You'd think if there were an army amount of tuatha de danaan, they would be unbeatable.

You know is highly unlikely that, the Irish Gods lost their dominion over the land. You have to understand that what you read at the Lebor Gabbala Erenn, was written by christian monks, to tied the ancient irish stories with Biblical narrative so of course, they would turn the irish gods as nothing but legendary kings of who wielded magic and powerful weapons. So, i believe that the original tale of Cu Chulainn did shown characters like Lugh as actual gods and not mere as defeated deities now dominated by the humans.
