Love the design, but not only they look awesome, they work amazing. Taichi's generally the best premium models out there.

I go through a lot of motherboards as a sys admin and someone who also does a lot of side contract work and builds for people. I've been having the most returns with msi and secondly asus as of late :( I've yet to ever have to return a single ASrock motherboard in the last decade. not one ever. could just be luck. but you can only go with what you've experienced xD my own msi godlike board went out a month out of warranty for my 5800x3d build. which was a real bummer given i paid over 600 bucks for it. replaced it with the cheapest asrock and found i actually gained some performance in benchmarks which i thought was hilarious

@@s7r49 That's actually one of the reasons in the first place why I got a Asrock long time ago, had plenty of problems with MSI and decided to give a go with Asrock. Never had any issues since.

I really like the temperature sensors as they are so useful to measure the temperature where it counts (tower cooler, GPU backplate, etc.). The pricing got out of hand, not only with ASRock, though.

I know people kinda take the case badges / stickers for granted. I think they are nice to have. I always put mine on the inside of the side / back panels cover of my pc cases. Can only see it if you take a panel off.

I am perhaps not your standard viewer, but I think the Lite is the more attractive option. These are very high end motherboards, they're very good high-end gear. If I can get one for about a hundred Australian bucks less than the other ~ that's a bonus. I am plotting to go through a once in the decade complete platform upgrade / update. I am a 62 year old Linux neck-beard, and I have an ASUS B150M with an i7-6700 non-k. I don't game. I want a B650 E Taichi Lite, a 9950X, 64GB of DDR5 @ 6,ooo MT/sec, and a 2TB M.2 drive. Why now? ~ Good question. Several reasons. I have little to no interest in Artificial Intelligence. I'm not saying it doesn't work or that good things can't be done with it, I'm saying that like Micro$oft's Trusted Computing Unit and their Secure Boot that's designed simply to prevent easy Linux install ~ I don't know that I want a Neural Processing Unit as part of my desktop. A 9950X does not have a Neural Processing Unit built into it, and it may very well be the last desktop processor generation made without one. Now would be a real good time to do the major upgrade if you want to avoid that stuff. Why I want to avoid it is perhaps a little outside the subject matter of this video. Very briefly, as a Linux user, I don't often (like mostly never) get the source code to see how something works, but for almost every piece of every program in my computer, particularly the operating system itself, I could do that if I wanted. Ok ~ now show me the code a Neural Processor executes. That's not human readable. That's like trying to read binary code / machine code, lower level again than assembler. By definition, that is not and can't ever be open source code.

At this price point, what's an extra $50? X870 is just a pricey platform.

You forgot about the VRM fan that's on the Taichi but not the Taichi Lite, I think the fan combined with the backplate, justifies the $50 price difference (ymmv).

Are there any AM5 boards with more than one usable PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and at least two PCIe 3.0 x8? I just took a look at the manual and it says if you use the second slot is downgrades the primary to x8 from x16, am I reading that right? Was about to buy one until I read that, deal breaker for me. I just need a basic board without all the fluff and usable PCIe slots and I can't seem to find any, even the server boards 8 .)

ive had an msi, asus and taichi motherboards till now, my friend had aorus, my curent motherboard is x870e carbon. I can definetly say the ASRock Polychrome RGB is worst than trash, it works only when it wants, it crashes most of the time. Even when it works its a miracle. It talkes between 1-3 minutes to open again after it crashed. The buttons sometimes you press them to change things and do nothing, sometimes they dissapear completely and had to restart the app. Im talking about the x570 taichi(i had 2 ,1 for 2 and half years the second for almost a year cause of rma\it was hard to boot sometimes cause if you touched the ram or the case even a bit it would doom boot).Even after reinstalling windows it had other problems with other rgb software.I really tried to use the asrock mo,never again. Msi mistic lights and asus aura worked perfectly for me, even though i dont understand why asus aura has 20 different installers for different things. That whole runt was for the rgb, you can controll fans from the asrock polychrome from what i remember but the software was so bad that it didnt mean a thing, lucky they have another program for that(forgot the name ;even that had problems but it worked 95% of the time), i lowered a bit the fan of the chipset cause it was going crazy even at idle.

Got to ask, the M.2 heatsink on top of that main PCIE looks too close for comfort, I use an active backplate on my GPU and all those new MoBos have a huge heatsink right next to the slot.... From the videos its hard to tell is there a clearance issue or not, some boards for sure, but the Taichi might be close.... Wonder why this has not come up with any reviews yet, really not looking forward in spending an extra 100 USD for a PCIE gen 5 riser on top of the X870E price tag....
