Mirio knew he would be quirkless when he jumped towards Eri to protect her from being shot, he was already aware of the quirk erasing bullets because of the meeting with all the pro heroes and tamaki and red riot were hit by the bullets and they got a sample because it bounced off red riot since he hardened.

Reminder that Overhaul "resetting" Eri means killing her and putting her back together. So for about 2 years this girl has been getting cut up and drained of her blood to the point she was near dead, then felt herself literally ripped to shreds and killed, only to be put back together a moment later.

Overhaul would be one of the best villains (he probably is) if only he didn't try to make a drug that can return people to normal whenever they get hit by the bullet that erases quirks. The author should have made Overhaul's goals to erase every quirk in the whole world. Overhaul could've slapped Deku with the "I told you but you didn't listen" Too bad, it would've been great.

Wasn't that his endgame though? I'm pretty sure he says something like that during his fight with Deku. Like he planned to keep using Eri until he could mass produce the drug on a scale to remove all the quirks in the world, returning humanity to their base state, so the yakuza could be returned to their former strength.
