After hearing about this controversy I had to pull out my copy of the volume of the manga that had this chapter in it. The still frames were literally the exact same images as in the manga panels, just with color. It was directed this was intentionally for the emotional impact. Whoever started this criticism needs to go out and touch some grass.

I forgot Shigaraki's exact words, but he never said to betray them. Something about "doing what's best" or "what you want", which - Toga and Twice ABSOLUTELY wanna betray them, but Shiggy never told them to do it. He just told them to do what they wanna do for the good of the League, but they were all 100% on the same page about what that meant.

That was the moment the whole MHA fandom joined under the shape of a hero, Mirio. I heard something incredible of the manga, the fight lasted 15 minutes, Mirio fought 10 minutes overwhelming Overhaul with his quirk, after getting the shot, he fought another 5 minutes quirkless.

Shigaraki didn't say anything about betraying the yakuza directly; he alluded to it, and it's clear that Twice and Toga both understood what he meant, but he didn't say it directly. The problem with the quirk that forces the person to tell the truth is that it seems to be very literal; if you don't ask the right question, then you don't get the right response.

im sure tons of people already said it.. but the reason why they said no to the question of "did Shigaraki say anything about a betrayal" isnt because they resisted it. Its the Truth, he didnt say anythng at all about betraying them. He told them to go and do their task and trusted that they would play their part the way he wanted. He knows them well. They didnt have to be told to betray, he just said do what you want to do while you do this job. Thats one of the reasons i love the villains of this show. They arnt just following orders, they have a clear goal that bonds them, theres actual trust in each other. Thats how you write for Villains. They arnt evil for evils sake, and actually care about one another and their goal.

with the confession quirk guy, you'd be surprised how many villain's quirks could actually be really useful in hero work. Toga would be useful in detective work, if only she could control her desires, and compress would be good at capturing villains. heck, even someone like Shigaraki could be useful, mainly in a rescue team, by disintegrating fallen debris that might be trapping civilians in the aftermath of a destructive battle.

The best episode in the series. Lemillion took his ability that he made severely overpowered and started beating one of the most dangerous villains in the series senseless. Even after he loses his quirk, he still goes toe to toe with a super dangerous villain. He showed what a true hero is, even with your back against the wall against certain death, you don't give up.

This also reminds me of when Deku found out about Shoto's family life and he said it sounded like the backstory for a main character. Because Mirio easily could have been the main character. The story is full of potential main characters really, and it keeps pointing that out really explicitly. It's interesting because it's at odds without how the general populace feels about things. They keep insisting that they need the one guy to be the symbol but the narrative keeps telling us it could be any/all of them.

Fun fact: If you actually listen to what Mirio's voice actor says during his "phantom threat" attack, you can clearly hear that he is actually saying "phantom menace" in English, with a Japanese pronunciation. Yet another Star Wars reference from Horikoshi. They had to change it in the sub, as well as the dub, because America has MUCH more stringent copyright laws than Japan (with the exception of the export of anime out of Japan, because we western anime fans can never catch a break XD).

Between you guys thinking that big dude was a Nomu despite looking nothing like one and confusing that big guy for Rappa who you just saw for the last two episodes I'm really starting to cringe. Also, Shigaraki never actually said "betray them." He just said "do what you want." So truthfully, they never were ordered by Shigaraki to betray the Hassaikai, so they said "no" to that question. The reason Irinika was so small before is because his quirk, Mimic, allows him to merge with objects. After taking the roids he merged with the walls of the hallway, but normally he traveled around merged with a doll, which is what you saw him as before.

About how toga and twice resisted the truth quirk at the beginning; they were never directly told, nor did they ever come up with a solid concrete plan to sabatage the yakuza. Shigaraki said very vague things, then told them he trusted them, that was all. So technically, they DID tell the truth

There aren't really any countermeasures to Confession. Not in the sense you're thinking of. He asks them a question and they answered honestly, its as simple as that. Of course we go into exact words territory as he asked them if Shigaraki had talked about betraying them, which he hadn't. He neglected to ask if Toga or Twice were planning to. They did that on their own without being told to. By the same token, while Confession could get Deku to tell them where his quirk comes from, its not something they would think to do. Normally you are simply born with your quirks and they have no reason to assume Deku is any different. Keep in mind very few people in this story know Deku was quirkless until middle school, with most of his old classmates going to other schools. That said if they ask him what the nature of his quirk was like they did with Lemillion they could find out it is transferable. Granted Deku's quirk seems pretty simple, super strength, so they might not think to bother. On that note, I wonder what happens when his old classmates find out he now has a quirk. We've seen how Bakugo reacted, but he was locally famous for not having a quirk and at least some of his classmates would of watched the sports festival.

When they said mirio is the closed to to number one hero including the pros they meant he's close to being as strong as endeavour not as strong as him but really just a step or two behind him stronger then hawk but weaker then endeavour he would've stomped overhaul and them all if the situation wasn't soo desperate for him he was constantly blaming himself for backing down when eri needed his help now face to face again in the same situation he decided to save eri not let her get hit with the erasing bullet and take it himself otherwise he would've easily stomped overhaul

The emotion of the scene made people imagine a big cool fight in their heads, but it really was just a page of flashback, showed both of them attack once, and then cuts to the end of the fight 5 minutes later. Like OP said, they cut out the stuff at UA, which is a shame, but all of that action that was in those still frames wasn't in the original scene. And I think seeing Dallas' reaction shows that it was effective regardless
