I like the idea of this series. It would really be great to have more images of the game to give us some context if we are not familiar with the game.

I love the new segment. Feels like a good way to battle the "cult of the new" hype. Also will help find that 'spark' from that time.

We know a real life Stretch Goal! 🥰 So glad to see this series up and running. Timm has taught us so many games at Meepleville and he is such a wonderful person. Thank you Tom!

I love this game. The limited number of actions with all the choices is just right for the brain burn. The two tracks with the lowest one being your score is also another thing that just adds to the game. I played a ton of it when I first got it but the same it’s been a while since it’s hit my table.

I really enjoy the Crown of Emara. We almost always play with the variant where players have all 9 cards in their hand at the beginning of the round. This was an interesting discussion and I look forward to seeing more of this series with Timm.

Yes, three cheers for this new series! I re-started gaming around 2008 and still play a lot of the "old" games and love them. They need this spotlight so they're not forgotten and ignored. And hurray for teaming up with the awesome Timm Metivier! One suggestion: Could you every now and then cut to a screenshot of the game set up, just to give us a visual? I know there's the link to the original review, but a visual would help me as you discuss the game.

Wow this is a great segment idea! I REALLY like Timm’s and Tom’s chemistry and presentation style they have together! Great to hear of the comparisons of the mechanisms of a game compared to other games.

Great series! I suggest to put the link to the Dice Tower review video of the game also in the 'i' notes. In this way the video is easily accessible also on smart TVs (while the comments and video description are not).

I love this video series idea Timm. Retrospectives or delayed initial perspectives that are informed by today's games give us buyers a chance to pick up something that was previously missed or passed on, or a justification to continue to save money.

I liked this :) It's cool to look at older games or those which didn't get much buzz. We all love the new, shiny stuff but we might find a hidden gem here. + Timm and Tom make for great hosts. Cheers!

I really enjoyed this new show. Looking forward to the next one. I do think a couple of screenshots of the game in progress would really help us visualize your points sometimes. I agree that you don't need to do a full explanation though, as long as there is a review to link to.

Crown of Emara is a great game, definitely one of the best action selection mechanisms I know of. It's not just two rondels, you must move a piece 1, 2, and 3 spaces each round. But each card also has an ability or resource acquisition associated with it. So you need to plan your whole round from the start. Sort of like Merlin, but more complex and satisfying in my opinion. The idea of playing cards for actions and having a limited number each round reminds me of Newton, but Newton doesn't have a spatial element or a reliance on the order in which you play cards like Emara does. Schwer's Hadara is also great, better than 7 Wonders for a smaller player count.

Such a perfect game to start with and one I played at the Dice Tower Retreat for the first time back in 2018. Everyone I know that has played it has loved it and I am uncertain how it was missed by so many

Love this. Timm is just a natural conversationalist, and this is a good idea for a semi-structured conversation. I would have like a few images of the game, not too many, but maybe a couple when you introduce the game or about halfway through.

I enjoy the series and appreciate more original and creative content coming off The Dice Tower. Good job people. I played Crown of Emara recently and that night I couldn't sleep thinking on the game. I fully recommended, such an easy teach for a mid weight euro

This is a cool way to bring older games under attention. It now does tickle my curiosity indeed, and I will investigate this game further, perhaps to the point of getting a copy of it ! Man, there are so many games, its almost a pity, because the jewels become a needle in a haystack.

Love this! Can't wait to see what games you guys cover in the future. CoE is one of my top 10 if not top 5 games of all time. Recently been playing it solo. It is one of those games where I don't need to look up the rules even after not playing it for a while. The actions/gameplay is so satisfying.

I played it once as a four player game. My problem with this game was that it was hard to plan your turn because of the other players, so it was too tactical for my taste.

Cool series, but you should have some pictures of the game for reference! Talking about the board or moves is really hard to imagine if you don't pan away to pictures of the game in action and really makes it hard to pay attention.

I felt like this game was way too easy. Red Cathedral is a better resource management game with a rondel.
@saintsalieri3 жыл бұрын
Red Cathedral is a lot more forgiving. You only use the rondel for resource acquisition, you have a lot of possible movement choices, and the guild cards mean the game is very generous toward the player. The other actions (deliver or build) can be taken at any time. Emara can be mind meltingly tense as you try to figure out how to get the resources you need and convert them to points all within the movement constraints.

Hmmm, a format where you talk in detail about a game but never go over the basics of how it is played? Referring us to watch another video for that information? Always been interested in this game, don’t own it, so I am your “market,” but I don’t like this format. OK, editing, after watching starting at 12 minutes. Now this is fun, joking about whether Timm should be penalized for not playing the game. If you are going to take this lighthearted approach, maybe do multiple games in one video? I came here expecting a brief overview of the game, Followed by a discussion about whether it is standing up to the test of time.
