I can't see this mentioned in the newest comments, other than the wet cloth suggestion, but there is a clay/putty heat sink that Is re - usable. It absorbs the heat and stops it from spreading. We use it for brazing copper air conditioning lines when the joint is close to something sensitive, such as a Schrader valve with the tiny seal. Great stuff; again, more money up front but saves money in the end by not using extra gas. I have seen it over here going between £30.00-50.00 a jar. It would also be useful when you have to heat up stuck bolts etc. As it stops the torch heading up the surrounding frame/surface. Awesome video, though👍

Thank you Mike, there's and old saying that goes "if it looks straight, it IS straight".. something about the naked eye having a natural ability to spot imbalance and asymmetry.. and when you choose to go "Rat Rod" and deliberately take less care over the minute perfection of things, then you often get it right first time due to being more relaxed about it.. at least it seems to work out that way..!!! kind of like, "draw a quick straight line on a piece of paper..! Now here's a tenner if you can do it again the same..!! you'll never do it because it now matters.! :-))

Hi Dell, are you going to put some bracing below the seat piece as normally this piece is usually thicker material, also don't French in the lights at the back, its a work of art at the present.
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Clive, the heavy tubes either side of the seat are only 7" apart, the fold towards the back of the seat pan sits on top of a cross bar, so the square hole that's left in the centre is more than strong enough, but the whole seat pan will have a separate seat bolted to it, so it will be, effectively, double thickness... I may support the front lip to prevent any flex, but the idea is it actually rests on the tank, which at that point curves back vertical and will support it nicely... it's all rock solid buddy! Oh and as for frenching, I can't deny that there is a potential to spoil that beautiful rear dome, so may go another way! Thanks for the nudge.
