You put far more care and effort into just making the bike movable than it saw in the original "repair job". Shame you got caught in the middle of this mess. You handled this like a real gentleman. Delboy's Garage is truly a class act. Blessings to you and Penny always.❤👍👍

Del, I realize that this is way off topic, but I place great value in your opinion so I am asking...I wear hearing aids (what can I say, without them I am as deaf as a post). I don't wear them when I am riding as I am concerned that I might loose them as I put the helmet on or take it off, and the damn things are expensive. I want to play music as I ride and don't wan't to put some sort of stereo on the bike. My options are: Buy a blue tooth helmet with built in speakers in the helmet, or get hearing aids with a blue tooth feature and wear hearing aids as I ride and listen to music through the hearing aids. What would you do?
@Moonfleet41 Жыл бұрын
Hi David. Personally i never listen to music on the bike, either from speakers or in my lid.. im happy with the sounds of the bike and traffic.. but if i did, and was in your position, you mention that hearings aids are expensive, and that you can lose them like you do an ear plug when taking your lid off.. then i presume you could do the same with a blue tooth hearing aid im sure..!! so the safest option would, i imagine, be a blue tooth system in your helmet !? A buddy of mine has one by Scorpion, has built in intercom, phone etc.. and he listens to music.. i think it cost about £300 !! Not bad money for any half decent mainstream helmet price.! Hope that helps.!

When people want to fight, you can't take the fight away from them. Del, you did the right thing for your client. But in my opinion from now on he should be under time limit, a lift is not a place for storage, and a garage is not a place for storage either. You should not stay in a place where people want to fight, it's their fight not yours. Hope it works out for you as well as possible😢

Wise words well said mate, but both sides need an impartial mediator, and someone they can trust to do the actual work, im not involved other then to strip and present the bike for inspection by a third party examiner, which has now happened, and they will thrash out what happens next.. im happy to store it for now, within reason, and once they're all decided im sure ill get instructed on what to do next..! Fingers crossed the poor guy can get his bike back on the road asap.!

I wonder how many fine steeds languish their time such as this, an enforced ornament, dust sheeted in cold regret & 'Waiting for parts'? An old friend had a Guzzi 1000 Convert in his 'spares' shed for years, belonging to one of his Dutch students, it had spat rather expensive chunks from it's gearbag, laddo couldn't afford a fix & had gone home 'to get more money' . . . I bet it's still there, if 'there' is actually still there . . . (I really should visit more often) Have a great week down there in the land of clotted cream & a 'resting' Harley 'Belt-Job' : )xx

Tip: Take copious notes and zip tie them to the bike about where this project was left off with all those parts loosely put back together and not torqued to spec, it may be asking for some missed steps in process 6 mos down the road when u finally get to complete it. Great video on so many levels, this is the kinda thing people don’t realize can jam up a small shop. When two clients pull this kinda holding pattern at once it can really slow down everything else for quick projects.
@Moonfleet41 Жыл бұрын
Wise words Joe, thanks for that mate.. i have taken many photos and made notes, Also if the bike should go to another person to be done then i will make sure i speak with them personally before they start the job.. and you're right, it just jams everything up and slows life down .... but i can move on now and leave this to run it's course..!

It's a shame that this happened, you getting stuck in the middle, especially. I know that the pulleys are completely trashed, and I am sure that you gave what I'm about to say a thought, but before your video showing the terrible state of the pulley teeth, my first thought was "I wonder did the transmission lock up while moving and strip those teeth off the belt." They're both spinning along at the same speed, but if there was some trouble in the gear box and it suddenly was travelling at a different speed than the road wheel, something's gonna give.... Like I said, the pulley revelation gave a much likelier scenario, but I still wonder how free the gears are spinning. But like I said, this is just me thinking, meanwhile you are there wrenching and you didn't just fall off the turnip truck yesterday. I hope it all works out for you, and especially the owner... Poor guy!
@Moonfleet41 Жыл бұрын
Hi Tommy, That's a good scenario that makes sense, but thankfully the motor runs normally and the gears can be selected without any undue noises.. if i get to finish it, i will be dumping the trans oil for a quick look just in case.. but it's far more likely down to the pulleys given the state of them.. Thanks for your input mate, it's much appreciated.

2 Months of a stalemate on a warranty? That is ridiculous it doesn't take that long to settle an issue with a warranty company. The owner needs to get otn eh phone and keep on them. Typically here its a 2 week maybe 3 and that's a hard maybe to get it all settled.
@Moonfleet41 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately it's not a straightforward situation mate, but I am not at liberty to get too deeply involved in it, trust me, the owner is doing everything he can to keep communication going.

Top notch videography as always, and I dare say for an unknown situation and a temporary period of time, you put the bike back together with more care and attention to detail than most of the other "restoration" videos I've seen on KZbin. It *always* goes wrong with machines that become literal basket cases, when all the grief could have been avoided by a general reassembly of components. How many horror stories have we all seen with a parked up bike where an owner took out a spark plug and then left it for years, eh?
@Moonfleet41 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely right mate, it is a major cause of bikes ending up derelict when they just get lef in pieces, anything can get lost, plus I have dust and other contaminants in the garage constantly and an open engine doesn't mix well with that! Thanks as always for your kind support.

@Moonfleet41 Жыл бұрын
Not at all mate, thankfully it has had a good effect because it needed to be stripped to inspect the front pulley and the sheer state of it was enough to impress the inspector enough for him to recommend that it should have been replaced and that the dealer was wrong in this case... so once they all sort themselves out, it should hopefully go in the owner's favour.
