I have such mixed feelings on the paragon. On one hand, it's a very fun and easy method of wiping the floor with trashy pirate fleets and pathers, then on the other it's painfully inept at dealing with anything remotely threatening, even under ideal circumstances.

The thing about paragon and other slow capitals is that they are designed to be battle anchors. Absorbing enemy damage and not letting them pass while your smaller ships fall back to take a breath. At the same time, anchor capitals' main weakness is being swarmed. Alone it dies really fast. In a bit older game update (not sure if 0.9.1 or 0.9.5), capitals were quite broken and would wipe the floor alone. Now they actually require help from other ships. Have an anchor capital with speedy cruisers and destroyers. Remember to have wolfpack tactics (leadership) skill as well
