What is on with "Additional XP due to overall battle difficulty +68%"? Shouldnt you get a bit more for a battle vs a starfortress with a fleet that contains 2 combat frigates?

@@mllhild as far as game is concerned it is 1 lv 15 officer vs 0 officers so it gives somewhat sad xp boost

It's really easy to throw like.. a ton of trash frigates at it. It's pretty easily overwhelmed. You can recover them all anyways. It costs the ships + guns. I think the Brawler? like 10 or 15 of them and watch AFK at 2x speed.

Wild stuff. My question is, is this easier or harder to do in a Doom? I'm doing a Doom-only run (can only pilot Doom, can only have ONE Doom). I've kind of been hurling my hull at their bullets so far and it hasn't worked. I think I'm picking up on what you're doing here, creating a safe spot to hide in and vent, then going in with bursty, precise weapons. The Doom's mines are useless vs orbital stations, though, and it doesn't get the benefits of the Afflictor's damage bonus.

@@Kurazarrh doom is much slower and larger, it has more dps though. I would recommend taking 4x small reapers, 2x sabot pod and antimatter blasters. Focus on fighter bays, then kill that "round bastion". Rest should be easy

@Kuba_K Thanks for the tips! I was thinking something similar, maybe Reapers in most slots and then ambs in the medium mounts, assuming I can still get close enough to aim into those little nooks and crannies.

I remember playing with YRXP mod (I think). It had a large torpedo that is essentially a larger reaper (8k HE damage, 2x the explosion radius). I was pretty upset about this balance decision since this large explosion radius made it so you can shoot a torpedo at a wreck near a shop you want to hit, and the explosion will end up doing full (or almost full) damage to the ship because the AI doesn't know how to shield itself against an explosion from a missile it has "already dodged", making fights more trivial then they needed to be. And there was also this issue of being able to shoot stations into the bulk between the modules and hit multiple modules from an unprotected direction. I recall thinking that the devs were smart when balancing this game around small explosion radiuses for missiles, with reaper being the largest one, and it still was pretty small. Turns out, devs did not balance shit.

@@dmitrygolubev9398 reaper explosion is still relatively small, besides modular ships and stations i dont see much other uses in normal combat for reaper aoe abuse. Even here those hits were basically at the border of damage area, any other hits wouldnt allow to kill whole station
