Delhi 6 is a benchmark album (this an ARR cliche!) For me Dil gira is a hard-choice path breaker of a composition. It’s got a simmering urgency in the guitar backbone, tethering the rest of the song, to accommodate Ash’s steady wistful accented NRI-intoned rendition, that reflects the Delhi-NY marriage on screen, and embellishing with that tangential glorious Celtic interlude but somehow pull you back into the highway seamlessly… It bursts with joy, celebration and romance in a way that still is peerless… Pretty hard to give enough plaudits, to both masters-AR and ROM, in harmonising this magnificent composition..

Dil Gira, such a marvel of a song, truly dreamlike. That guitar all the way. Lyrics. And Ash King was the perfect choice for Dil Gira. Was a certain newness to his voice. His non-native accent also played a role there. Thanks for another great episode.

Dil Gira Dafatan and Rehna Tu are among my favourite tracks of the album... The compositions are slow burn and sink in ever so effortlessly into one's soul and the visual imagery was so breath-takingly beautiful... i remember the film didn't really go down well commercially... Maybe the audience weren't ready for the deep symbolism and metaphorical references in the film....

Thanks for another great episode... Dil Gira Daf'atan is my favourite from the movie. One of the few songs in Bollywood where the whole team (Composer, Director, Lyricist etc.) appears to be in sync with the creative process... As mentioned in the video, both Rahman and Mehra called each other 'genius' for their respective contributions to the song... Also, it seems like the focus of this series (esp. in the episodes with Omprakash Mehra) has shifted a little with more emphasis now on the concepts behind the songs and how Rahman interpreted those ideas into some timeless compositions. I would request to continue with this theme for a few more episodes. As there are some classics which definitely need to be revisited. If possible please do an episode (or two), similar to this one with Gulzar Sahab and Mani Sir on Satrangi Re.

When the movie released and I watched it, I didn't understand head or tail of the film, probably because I wasn't clever or prepared to understand the nuances and complexity of the visuals, the story, the script and the whole concept of the film. I remember thinking what a nonsense film this is....and this is probably why it didn't do very well initially with the masses. It really needs a certain level of understanding to watch this movie. But the songs touched my heart instantly...and have been permanently in my playlist! Time to revisit and watch it again!
