I remember 26 December(Nirbhaya) ke incident ke baad mere kuchh friends ne mujhe Candle march ke liye India gate chalne ko keha .......we reached there at Laxmi Nagar Bus stop and to my utter dismay I found 1-2 boys among us passed some lucid comment on a Beautiful girl standing there and no body protested. I left the scene immediately and told all of them Pahle khud KO sudhar lo pheer Desh sudharna. Most of such videos are addressed to the wrong men, who don't need it. Some videos, go one to explicitly ask men not to rape. What kind of a message is this? It is insulting and denigrating. At the same time, such messages on men who are inclined to commit such activities will continue to do so, because they are already damaged within. That won't stop rapes. Yes, it can reduce the rate of rapes. Root cause of rapes are Lust and greed of wanting the opposite gender. This video was actually correct about the 'consent' (permission). Boys among themselves don't have consent , if they feel bad and hurt, they start physical fights and serious verbal abuse. They don't give a damn what other person will feel. So, consent becomes a new word for the boys community. Agression leads to very irrational decision which lacks morality and empathy in him. Second, lack of exposure (conversation) with opposite genders also provide a ground for not understanding how the other gender feel and what do they want.Laws are for everything even we've for road and traffic but you know how pathetic, people follow those laws and implement them. I hope this answer might throw more light on this issue

@sohum It definitely isn't morally reprehensible to teach girls how to fight... and it does seem like rape will always exist. While what you're suggesting seems sensible, I'm not sure how this plays out in reality .. and my earlier comment was made only to highlight the fact it seems so odd for men to need to adjust, the onus of consequences eventually lands on the woman. I realise you're looking for an approach to 'minimize' rape- but our approaches are different: mine is extremist and a rather idealistic one in that the roles are hypothetically reversed- the onus of actions and consequences ends up on the general male society just like it has been for women in reality. You're also being an apologist for the way men behave- and are trying to distribute responsibility for the consequences between both genders.. that has been the status quo, and it probably seems extremely strange to imagine a world wherein no one will bring up the 'self-defense' argument, but that's something that's internalised in women. I'm conflicted by what you say because it does definitely have practical advantages since rape seems to be a constant reality and this is apparently how humans function...

I am not saying this is not a big issue, it is, but it is for both the genders. 2) about the feminist thing, I admit we needed I back in the 1950s, but today, nope. And you and me both should admit that this feminist shit is getting out of hand, especially abroad and that cancer is slowly approaching India. 3) since we are here, I'll tell what I dont like about government policies, beti bacho beti parhao. According to UN statistics, 263 million children are uneducated and/or don't go to school. 130 million of them are girls. If you do simple math, you find out that 133 million of them are boys. Education is an issue for both genders/sexes/whatever the fuck you call it these days, and awareness should be spread to educate everyone, and not just one gender. 4) It is bad to discriminate someone just because they were born with a dick or a vagina, just dont do it.. Just DONT.. Only lunatics do that. 5) I admit that society has shaped us in such a way that there are problems for women and men both. None of the problems are greater or lesser than another, every problem is and should be treated equally. 6) This one might sound childish, but if a women slaps a man, it is the MANS fault, he would be laughed upon, vice versa, the guy will end up in jail for a fucking billion years. I mean think of it, we support equality, dont we? So sexual violence isn't a one way thing. 7) In 2018, people get offended for anyrhing and everything. You said in the video that someone raped the song coz they can't sing, well that is just a way of saying that the guy or girl couldn't sing properly, and shouldn't be considered offensive, if that seems offensive to you, then go back to tumblr. 8) I'll stop here, but men and women are not treated equally in courts, etc.. And I dont want to write anything further from here. Bottom line: I dont think rape is not a serious issue, it is, but for both genders, men and women both should be taught not to rape, and how to act.
