I was talking with my friends too much once and I got in trouble. The teacher made me sit beside a boy so I wouldn’t talk. The entire class went crazy, yelling, wooting, and shipping. I just sat down beside the guy and put my arms around his shoulder. “Bro, the class needs to grow up right?” I told him very loudly so the class could hear. “Yeah, bro,” He responded. The class shut up real quick after that. Edit: It’s been five years and that guy is still my best friend!

When I moved to New place (somewhere in South of Maharashtra), I joined new college for class 11. For first 2 days I befriend guys and then thought to befriend girls (in my earlier schools, we boys and girls used to interact freely). I randomly asked a girl her name and she didn't respond. I thought she didn't hear and asked her again and the same happened. Then I moved away. Next day she came with her father and I was called at principal office. I was warned by principal to not to bother about girls. Now this is what they wrong thing of society.

Boy do I feel your pain. But you know, whenever you think a girl is of your type, it's easy, just remind yourself you're the guy, and go talk to her casually, proceed with a greeting, act natural, polite (not too much though), ask her if she's free, is the seat beside her taken, don't be cheesy with flirts though, flirts usually work till colleges or less and as everyone grows up a little, sincere and straightforward talk with less beating around the bush works, unless you have time to flirt and you think she'll like it, don't do it. Try to find topics of common interest, and ultimately ask for her number. The key is to ALWAYS ask if she wants to split the bill whenever going out. Don't buy her too many presents unless it's a major occasion, and don't be clingy. On the bright side it all works out.

Let me tell you my small town experience of gender conditioning. When I was in elementary school, my teachers would punish boys by sitting them in between girls. I too was punished. I started talking to the girl I sat next to. We became friends, sort of. It was a while until I was made to realise it was symbolically shameful and "inappropriate" by my peers and teachers alike. This peer conditioning is a root cause of many boys being afraid to talk to girls and vice versa. In my teen years, I saw that the interaction between a girl and a boy was only accepted by friends if it was romantic. That too was a major taboo outside the student circles. I found myself getting awkward when talking to girls myself. It was not very soon wheb I realised that a boy and girl can be just friends and talk like people.

well, most girls and boys are shy around each other and don't really talk so, teachers use this strategy for talkative students to make them talk less. BTW, being talkative is not a good thing either specially if you are in a school and the teacher is teaching

Well I think making me sit with a boy was the best idea my teacher had.... I've been dating him for 2 weeks now. And we discovered we had a crush on each other since we sit together.

In school, we are allowed to sit together in classes. But not in libraries . I mean, what kind of logic is that dogkrk.

We should protect girls and women from cancer and we can fix this with more clothing: It should be mandatory for men with laser-eyes to wear sunglasses! ;)
