I'm 71, I grew up with wig wags all over the place. I'm glad this one is going to a museum. BNSF did a good job of maintaining it. 80 yrs of service.

Miss the old wig wag on my street, growing up. Well maybe not so much. Kids across the tracks would mess with it and sometimes it would be stuck on for days.

It’s disappointing that the wig wag signal was taken off. At least you got six nice shots of them! Including that incredible one with Amtrak Heritage unit 145 and the private car on the same train!

It seems a single wig-wag of that type would be easier to miss than modern crossing flashers.

Why did they get rid of it? This crossing has very low traffic, so I don’t see why they needed to replace it. If only we protested the replacement of this beloved wigwag!

It's not dead yet! Go see it! It's getting close: shunt boxes and three of four shunt rails have been installed. There is also some work to do at both ends of WSS Delhi. It could be a while before it is forked lifted out. Consider fly to Denver and make the beautiful drive down to this time capsule. Check the Southwest Chief schedules; they are the only train here.

How much longer are the semaphores going to be there? How many miles of the territory are even signaled by semaphores?

Semaphores will be replaced as needed and funding is available. Amtrak paid for the removal of the semaphores in Los Cerillos, NM.

Remember Semaphores are on 3 Subdivisions and 2 railroads. Semaphores are located on the BNSF Raton Sub which ends in Las Vegas, NM and the Glorieta Sub which begins at Las Vegas, and ends at Lamy. The NMRX Albuquerque Sub begins at Lamy and ends at Belen.
