Those fish are Sacramento Suckers, (Catostomus occidentalis) they're indigenous to slow moving rivers, lakes, and ponds in the Sacramento watershed. They're considered a junk fish but Sacramento Suckers were a traditional food source in the diet of native Californians, particularly the Ajumawi. Wow thanks for all the comments and likes. I was just trying to be helpful, didn't think I'd get this kind of response. Gotta appreciate what a community this channel has developed into. Very cool 🤙🏼

It’s called Vietnamese Style Crawfish in New Orleans and it blew my mind too the first time I had it. Growing up eating them boiled, I was skeptical at first but this way is totally legit too. Great video.

As a child we would walk up the river about a mile, a group of us collecting crawfish. Would come back and have a boil, sourdough bread from the Bay Area, some lingcod from Santa Cruz. I just gather around the backyard fire pit, and eat crawfish tell we were full. Mom apple pie. Being 12 years only in the late 70’s was a good time to be from a small town.

those are suckers. There's a large spawning run early spring here in Michigan. They are delicious. Fried, smoked, grilled, pickled. There's several different variety. What's your favorite soy sauce? And is there a huge difference between the good stuff and normal stuff you find at the big box store?

I too am curious. I have been devoted to Kimlan Ijen soy sauce since I first tasted it, but would like to explore other options.

@@1utube01 I hardly use soy sauce for anything other than an Umami additive in soups, etc.. so I usually just get the cheap stuff. I wasn't sure if I would notice much of a difference if I bought some premium stuff. I'm sure I would tell if I was eating sushi, but yeah I would love to know if I've been missing out this whole time!

when i was little camping with my mom (elementary, jr high 80s).....we would boil the crawfish we caught on the fire and just dip them in garlic butter.......oooooooooooooo so good. 2 trout and 8 crawfish, and 2 kids out of my single moms hair in the stream for 2 hours, after 2 hours of playing upstream scaring the fish to her....was some of the best times of my life. XD those are little ones...my mom would make me throw them back for the big ones :P why it took 2-3 hours for 8 lol.....we'd catch about 30-40...but most were too small :P she would catch a fish or two....gut and bleed them in the stream to get the crawfish insterested...and BOOM.....4h of two boys out of your hair ;) edit: the best crawfish trap is a big gulp cup and your hand with a sock on it..... ;)

@@Iroxinping Wow! That's awesome! I actually moved in with my mom next door to my grandparents last year to help take care of them. Unfortunately my grandmother passed away last April from Covid. Grandpa has since moved to a really nice assisted living facility and talked to us about him "becoming romantically involved" with a sweet lady across the hall. He kind of wanted to know if that was ok with us. He's about to turn 93 and she's 80. We're really happy for him.

Ken Vo just go out and find locations for yourself. If you give away locations on the internet, they inevitably get flooded with idiots who ruin and pollute it. Has happened to many places here in Oregon.

I can hardly imagine that there is a hybrid of trout and carp. Do you have any articles on it? The fish have absolutely nothing in common with a trout!

That looks to me like a Döbel (the german word) in english you call him chub (Leuciscus cephalus), also a fish from the carp line.
