MOONG DAL TADKA
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup moong dal soaked for 4-5 hours
Water
1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
1/2 tsp of red chilli powder
3-4 slit green chillies
1 medium onion finely chopped
1 tomato finely chopped
1 tbsp of finely chopped garlic
1 tbsp of finely chopped ginger
2-3 freshly chopped coriander
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves
2 tbsp of ghee
1/2 tsp of mustard seeds
1/2 tsp of cumin seeds
METHOD:
Soak 1 cup moong dal for 4-5 hours
Add it to a vessel
Add water till the dal is completely drowned in it
Add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
1/2 tsp of red chilli powder
Add 3-4 slit green chillies
1 medium onion finely chopped
1 tomato finely chopped
1 tbsp of finely chopped garlic
1 tbsp of finely chopped ginger
2-3 freshly chopped coriander
Mix it well
Add salt to taste
Cover and cook the dal on a medium flame for 20-25 minutes, keep stirring every 5 minutes
Add fresh coriander and shut the flame
For tempering/tadka
Heat 2 tbsp of ghee
Splutter 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds
Add 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds
A little bit of chilli powder
Add the tadka to the dal
Immediately cover the dal
Let the dal rest for 5 minutes and serve
