That Rose covered building is actually a coffee chop. They have a private room upstairs with more of the same. Spoiler alert: none of the roses are real. Don't miss the murals on the buildings next to it. This street is the location of the Sunday Walking Street Market, which was super cool to see. Plenty of cheap food to be had there, and you can walk down to the Golden Dragon Monument and post up on the steps to people watch.

Great video, You and Gary always do a great job! I was a little confused when Gary mentioned "mee hokkien" as a dish you can only get in the south. "Hokkien Mee" is probably one of the most widely known noodle dishes in all of Asia, pretty sure I've had it as an inflight meal even. It's Chinese, orginally, and it's found all over southern China, Thailand, Malayasia, Singapore. I can even get it in my small hometown in Canada. It looks amazing, but it's the furtherst thing from the rare exotic dish he's describing.
@theroamingcook2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alex, I definitely understand the confusion. I should have explained this further in the video. let me clarify: I meant in Thailand. You only get Pad Mee Hokkien like this in Phuket. Yes, you can get a dish by the same name in Malaysia but it's different (actually there are several Malaty versions depending on what part you're in) as is the Singaporean version and I'm guessing the Canadian version is very different again.
@mchaisoccer2 жыл бұрын
In Thai language, we put a descriptive adjective after noun. So, we end up calling the dish in Thai differently comparing to Chinese or even English. For example, we would call Spanish fried rice as ข้าวผัดสเปน (fried rice spanish) in Thai. For this reason, hokkien mee which means hokkien noodle is then called "หมี่ฮกเกี้ยน" pronouncing "mee hokkien" in Thai.
@atticablack2 жыл бұрын
@@mchaisoccer Sounds like he must have been referring to specifically the Thai version. Hokkien Mee is one of my favorite food memories of Malaysia.
@atticablack2 жыл бұрын
@@theroamingcook This makes much more sense to me, I'm sure you've seen the numerous signs for Hokkien Mee at every Malaysian food court, so you can understand my confusion.

Those fish tacos looked so yummy! 🤤 Seeing the 'behind the scenes' is cool! I love watching Gary's channel and listening to him talk to the people in Thai. 🥰 Gary's walk was definitely the winner! 😆 I don't know if it is just me but every time you and Gary are together, your British accent gets just a little more pronounced... It's cute. And I know you don't like to show too much of that dry British humor because people don't quite always get it, but I love when we get just a little peek... Gary's funny walk reminded me of Monty Python.... 🤣🤣🤣 Anyway, thanks for sharing Gary with us! 😊🥰

I was there are 1 pm and it was totally dead the road was busy but only a hand full of asian tourists were around and almost all the businesses were closed also there are a few pretty buildings but 80% of the area seemed rundown to me well more rundown than patong and kata at least

Can you compare Phuket and Krabi? I know Krabi is getting very popular in many ways such as natural attraction places and Phuket is kind noisy and crowded in my opinion. What do you think? 🤔
I feel like an old fart asking this but where can I access a google doc with all your visited/recommended places Paddy? I'll be in Bangkok and Prachuap Khiri Kan next month and would love to see/visit some of the places you've highlighted.
