A tip to make your homemade ice cream even better: Use the stracciatella method for the chocolate component. For one quart of ice cream, melt 11 g of refined coconut oil in a small saucepan over low heat, then stir in 41 g of chocolate chips until melted. Set aside while churning the ice cream, then pour the chocolate into the ice cream in a slow, thin stream during the last 5 minutes of churning. With the added oil, the chocolate melts more easily in your mouth when frozen and has a better texture. :)

Hello Stephanie. I will certainly have to try the recipe for the mint chocolate chip ice cream because some in our family love that flavor. I just placed an order from Thrive Market for that extract. I used to have that same ice cream maker. If you want to step up in that department, check out the Breville Smart Scoop Ice Cream Maker. The best thing is the bowl does not need to be pre-frozen! So I don't have to take up precious space in a freezer and I can make ice cream, one batch after another, with no forethought. I have had for several years and it is amazing! When the ice cream is finished making, the sound of an old fashioned ice cream truck let's me know! SO fun!
