What Mr. Ayoade stated is sort of the truth. In the UK and Europe they were almost exclusively royals (which were of course, whites). Even today, try and look up the top 50 or 100 socialites. People don't say it, but 'white/caucasian' can almost be part of the definition of a socialite. I think that was what Ayoade went for.

That titter is the kind of laugh that comforts me. It's not a 'good' laugh. It's not a laugh that says 'Oh! Something funny happened!' @@heidilynns9207 It's SO hard to keep a straight face with dry humour. But it's as key as the timing, and Richard's a master of both.

What joke would that be?
@svresh
@svresh 5 жыл бұрын
He's saying it as if its a meaningful item to him when in reality, he's just trying to sneak on a thesaurus so he can cheat at the letters round (hence the calculator for the numbers round)
@snowynya2229
@snowynya2229 5 жыл бұрын
@@svresh Well, no, using a thesaurus for the letters round wouldn't have actually helped at all, the point of the joke as a whole was because of the "nerdy" character he gives off, it suits him as a mascot, however the joke in reference here is "I've been through thick and thin" which Collin Cunningham is implying has been missed by most people, however I'm yet to hear their explanation on what joke that would be
@svresh
@svresh 5 жыл бұрын
@@snowynya2229 the "thick and thin" line is a literally a throw away line to disguise the fact that the thesaurus doesn't actually mean anything to him and he's using it as an advantage. Furthermore, saying a thesaurus wouldnt help is like saying a dictionary wouldnt. Its a book of big words to find the useable letters with. If you think its just a prop for a nerd character he always plays, you're an imbecile.

I might be wrong, but he might be implying that going from "thick" to "thin" alphabetically wouldn't be so impressive in a thesaurus?
