I really appreciate how June normalises using things that are expired because people now a days are so fast to check a date on a package and throw it away, it's refreshing to see someone advocate for using everything and not just throwing things away the second it's not perfect anymore.
@charityszakel2794
@charityszakel2794 3 жыл бұрын
But what can you eat that’s expired or has mold? Bc my bf and I argue about this all the time like with bread I just tear the the mold off and I don’t eat soft fruit that has mold but I will cut the mold off of hard fruits and veggies that’s ok right?

I played this game for two weeks when my husband was out of town and I only had $20 for groceries. I had to use freezer/pantry items for most of my food and some of it was pretty questionable. I did not expect comments lol and feel like I should explain. Money was tight at the time, and my husband had to travel for work - he gets reimbursed after the trip, but needs to pay for gas/food during. He had to have that money in his bank account, and we had just paid our bills so both of us were low on funds. Also, it was the week between paychecks of course! Everything was fine though, we had plenty of food in the freezer/pantry to use and I was able to buy the extra items that I needed (fresher ingredients). I knew that I could make it work, and was not worried at all. I just thought of it as a kind of game, like Chopped or something! What can I make with these random freezer/pantry items for this meal? It was satisfying that I could survive on what I had, and use up things that were just sitting around. I appreciate the comments and concern though!

What I love about these videos is it shows just how intuitive and creative she is in the kitchen. Most other cooks on youtube will have preset recipes they follow - but June is able to think up recipes on the fly and McGuiver her way around things. Knowing what ingridents and flavor profiles will work together and experimenting alot. Plus you REALLY get the feeling she is cooking - she is doing so much from scratch it's incredible. I don't think I really see that much with any other cooks here on KZbin. She is definitely a master at what she does.

I was so inspired by this video, i actually took my months old frozen berries, week old frozen banana and turned them into berry-banana bread! And because you always make use of anything and everything in your dishes and they still turn out well i also did the same! Although i didnt really follow any of the recipes of the dishes you made here you still inspired me to be adventurous and i did a lot of substitutions to the original recipe that i followed and it turned out better than i was expecting! Thank you June for doing what you do. I am very sure you inspire a lot of home cooks, like myself, to try and not waste food! Looking forward to more of your videos. Stay safe😊

My heart is so warm to see someone taking in an elderly cat, one with health problems at that. Old babies don't get enough love and while I don't have room for more pets right now, when the time comes and my home is missing the love of an animal companion once again, I plan to go to the shelter and ask to see their older friends, or ones that are close to being put down (we unfortunately don't have a no kill shelter). Bless your heart, you are a beautiful person.
