"These are the guys that decided not to play golf that weekend." Now that's how you build up suspense in a trailer, if it were made today they would probably give the entire plot plus the ending away.

CGI would have ruined this movie. You cant fake being on water without it looking absolutely ridiculous and it doesn't matter if you have the best graphics department in the world, it's just not the same. And also being shot on film also makes a huge difference. The director, production crew, stunt men and actors did a brilliant job on this. This is truly a one-of-a-kind movie.
@taurinstraiter2325 Жыл бұрын
Why would you use CGI for this movie? What has CGI to do with this movie? You mean if it was done today? A) Those movies don't exist as much today anymore and if they do they are under the public consciousness, so I predict they have a limited budget anyway (at least in my perception). B) Yeah, sure CGI water is used today but for those kind of movies? I highly doubt that. See A). You think everyone working in the industry today is total moron? I give them the benefit of the doubt for mentioned reasons above. But that will not take anything away from the greatness of the film. Every advantage this film has is legit like you said.

Back then there was no rewind. If you saw this trailer on TV you wouldn’t remember every detail. (Only 4 channels on TV) And they didn’t show movie trailers all day long. Believe me because I lived it. I went in to the theater thinking this movie in was gonna be about guys roughing it on the river and having to navigate a deadly river and things like that. Boy was I wrong 😂 I only saw the trailer twice and the second time I only caught the last few seconds…..Remember….no rewind. It’s funny how the mind works. I didn’t even remember the guy being shot with an arrow. The rapid river was the only part my mind remembered. Hope that makes sense. And this wasn’t the trailer I saw…..the one I saw was much shorter. Same thing with the Exorcist. I just knew the movie was supposed to be the scariest movie ever made. Never even seen a trailer;the movie was in every newspaper. The hype was unreal! Great times. You should’ve been there for Jaws and Star Wars……theater’s were PACKED! It was a huge event in time.
