Great looking boat, as you say a huge amount of potential. James you and sailor Sam have sure inspired me, a long forgotten dream to sail has resurfaced, now to get the training and the boat. Fair winds to you.

Yet another great video James. I'd love to meet you personally down here in Nz, and apologise face to face, for any unjustified negative comments I've made in the comment section. Sadly what's been said, cannot be unsaid. With the benefit of hindsight, there has been a few. Btw, my beer fridge is always full. Sometimes. Take care mate. Atb from down here in Nz.

I've always liked Tritons. I wound up with an Alberg because there were no good Tritons available at the time O was looking. Looks like that one has been sensibly kitted out, possibly James Baldwin may have gotten his hands on it, or maybe the previous owner just liked his style. Anyway, looks like a great little boat!

I have an Alberg 35, that forward hatch and cockpit look identical. Honestly, I can’t see much difference compared to the Triton…. What’s the difference?

Roller furling jibs were not around in the 1950s. This boat already has some modern improvements. That dodger looks like it made the sail through the white caps a lot more comfortable for you in the cockpit. It is covered with spray that would have landed on you if it wasn't there.
@SailorJames2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I didn’t say this video was from 1959 😂

Yes, there were roller furling jibs in the '50's, even earlier. They also had roller reefing mains.

Not sure, maybe just 20+ hours of pushing the little engine through the Kauai channel while only making 3 knots. We used her the whole next day at lower revs (it doesn’t have an RPM gauge) and she did fine

Just curious, what is Esteban's issue with the oil tanker moored off of Barber's Point? Honolulu is a strategic military base. Is it oil, or the military; or am I totally off target as to the reason of the middle finger salute?
@SailorJames2 жыл бұрын
It’s the fact that it adds about 5+ hours to the trip on small boats to have to push three to four miles offshore into what becomes legitimate ocean sailing and putting you into the direct currents and winds coming out of the Molokai channel because of the tanker and the Pearl Harbor no go zone. With todays technology there is no reason they need such a dramatic no go zone in front of Pearl Harbor especially considering how far up inside the bay all of the military installations are. It’s simply unnecessary and means boaters can’t hug the coast and are forced well out to sea putting them at risk especially considering there is no real safety net here in regards to a reliable tow boat service
@bidask1232 жыл бұрын
@@SailorJames i really appreciate your thoughtful reply to my comment. Try sailing or flying around Honolulu when Obama is/was here. No thanks. However, I support the military. Mahalo to you!

Turn the volume down on your background music. That shit will make me avoid your videos when the music is 5x louder than the voices. I saw a decent Catalina 30 for 1200 in long Beach on Craigslist this morning. I cannot believe I'm thinking of selling off my Harleys. Never thought the day would come.
