Pizza was invented in Naples, Italy back in the 1800's for their queen at the time Queen Margherita of Savoy who wanted something simple and plain so one of her chefs came up with the idea for a margherita pizza which is the most simple and most traditional pizza to make (it's just bread, tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil) which represented the Italian flag, the queen loved it so much that it became a staple and that's how pizza was invented (I may be slightly off with the history but you get the idea).
