If SQ is more your thing, the kicker Q classes will make you happy so does the Sundown U series. A U series still hits pretty hard in a sealed box but you will get a more musical sounding bass than ported or bandpass.

I can't believe the high demand for these subs. I'm deep into car audio and have never seen anyone with the zv5. I may have seen 2 people with them at a car meet, but there were over 200 cars. I could build custom boxes for these and I guarantee they would move real slow.

My older brother used to have a 2006 Altima with 2 kenwood 10 inch subs in a sealed box, not the loudest but it still bumps. I remembered that he blew them by turning the gains to clipping and then he replaced them with mismatched subs. The inspiration from older brother, PSSounds, Fivestar car audio, SMD, and Lifeofprice got me into car audio. I inherited the old subs from my brother and bought an old 500w Jensen amp from a pawn shop because my dad threw out that nice kenwood amp which was very affordable for the output and sound quality you get. Those mismatched budget tens do not sound right and I’m thinking about going with a single twelve, and stay with a sealed and not go ported or BP because I much prefer a musical bass over boomy bass.

The U series is Sundown’s loudest and most musical subwoofer that will work a sealed box. A single U12 in a sealed box is about 130 decibels. Check the sundown website for more info. The X, ZV’s, and nightshades won’t work in a sealed box because the QTS is less than 0.4.

@@beefysghost867 Like I said American Bass isn't junk and isn't going anywhere. I have 4 of their 8s with the blue basket on a sfb5000. You just got a bad batch. Sundown isn't perfect. I have 4 of their Sa15s, but 2 of them are mismatch and look weak and cheap af. An American Bass xfl would run circles around the sa I have. I have Sundowns just sitting nib box collecting dust. I contacted Sundown and they just gave me the runaround and excuses. Also the Sa15s I have don't hit lows worth a damn.

what i dont get is how that tiny wire that attaches to the coil doesnt burn up on high power its not very thick but then you have the tinsel leads double triple and quad which is altogether thicker than that tiny lead then the wire we put to the push terminal is thicker than that i dont get it

I would love to have a super low Fs of under 25 hz in a ZV6 18 to use in a home theater setup. 4 of those running off a Crown XLS 2502 each in 10 cu ft tuned to 16 hz in my 300 square foot HT room would be very nice. Hell I'd take one for my truck with normal Fs in place of my current Dayton Kraken 21" if I had a 300 amp alternator.

I've always wanted big ass subs in my house. I have a crown 2502 on my towers and a 3500 for my subs (in my car now) but the problem is the breaker always pops when I turn it up really loud. How do I fox this lol? I can't just put a bigger breaker in the fuse box

@@Pittsburgh-412 Do you have it bridged at 4 ohms or at 2 ohms? It is stable into a 4 ohm bridged load which is in actuality a 2 ohm load on the amp. What size wire is going to your home circuit and what size brealker is in there. 12 gauge you should have 20 amp fuse at 110 volts. 10 gauge should have a 30 amp fuse. I just hope you don't have 14 gauge, which only allows for a 15 amp max breaker. I have a Crown 1502 running a single Dayton Ultimax 18 in my house and a 500 watt BASH amp running a 15 inch Ultimax off the same circuit with 20 amp breaker. So roughly 2000 watts total, not far off from the 2500 watts you need. Over time breakers can get weak and trip at lower power levels. A new 20 amp or try a 30 might work.

Look at stereointegrity.com, Nick Lemons sources from sundown to build low fs subs. The hst18 has an fs of 21hrtz and the hst15 is 23hrtz. I have used the 18 and the twelve inch versions, low end monsters.

@@PURESOUND4 It is wonderful. I have it in 7 cu ft tuned to 29, and not only does it go very low, the impact for rock is amazing. I have it running off a Taramps Smart 3K at 4 ohms and it feels like it could take much more. For DJ use, I would aim for 32-35 tuning in 6 cu ft and use light plywood, because the sub is already very heavy.

@@billl2383 solid, would not be a coil. It needs to be a coil. The wire is laminated and carries current around in a circle multiple times creating an electromagnet, that repels the opposing magnet motor. That's how it moves. It has to be a coil to do this trick. Imagine coiling wire around a nail, and Appling 9v battery to the coil ends. You've made a magnet. Now move that towards another magnet and it will push or pull said magnet based on voltage polarity.
