Moving from 27" Full HD to this 32" 4k Dell monitor 2 weeks ago, connected via DP 1.4 to RTX 3090 and it's absolutely amazing, nice colours, 144hz, G-SYNC compatible, fast response time and good HDR. You can switch between some 5 or 6 modes of HDR, using Game HDR for games and Movie HDR for movies or videos and it looks perfect. For that price is best choose, I bought it for 690€ with 3 year warranty and it's very good deal

Thank you for this video! I wanted windows to recognize the HDR certification on this monitor and it would not until I installed the driver. Most people recommend not installing monitor drivers and just using the driver windows installs, unless it causes issues with the monitor so I had not installed the driver. After watching this, I installed the driver and windows now shows the HDR certification in display settings. Much appreciated! I will avoid the display manager though as I'm fine with using the OSD controls and rarely need to change anything after initial setup.

Face down in the box with all protection around it you attached the stand and "then" took it out of the box fully assembled. Is local dimming still not adjustable? For anyone wondering: this monitor is great, but if you watch a white text appearing on a black background (like it usually happens at the start of movies), the whole screen instanly will change its brightness. And it does so, depending on how much brightness you have. SO the whole screen goes boom! Bright with text, and black, then it adjust on the fly. It really sucks, I will return it and take tv instead
@Case_ Жыл бұрын
The part where you are comparing "contrast" (it's not really a question of contrast, just black levels/gamma setting you're looking at there) via the Lagom black levels page...it's actually the 4k Dell that looks more or less as it should. Anything below 5 should indeed be pretty hard to distinguish from pure black (but on a good monitor that's well calibrated, you should still be able to see the appropriate box there, just very faintly). The S2721 has quite elevated black levels (at least as far as what is shown in the video is concerned, I'm sure it looks a bit different in person). Might be a misconfiguration of its gamma setting compared to the color profile it is using in Windows.

If you're using this monitor with a PS5 I would NOT recommend updating the firmware if you have M3T101 installed. HDR worked perfectly on M3T101, after updating to M3T102 the screen is way to dark for anything to be playable anymore with HDR turned on. M3T103 firmware didn't fix this, it seems Dell is not aware of this issue on PS5. I contacted them multiple times about this, ended up just wasting my time. If anyone knows how to revert the firmware to an older one I would do it without looking back.

Today replaced my 2011 Dell u2711 (1440p) to a Dell g3223q (4k 144hz). So far it appears to be free of defects and very nice to finally graduate into the 4k class. I was becoming concerned that the old monitor florescent tube could die, although it still looks great after a dozen years of heavy 18x7 use. I need to display spreadsheets as much as play games, so this was an easy choice. Especially at the local Micro Center price of $679.

Comprehensive video, and while it's a bit of common sense, I appreciate the helpful reminders on firmware, etc. Plus it was great to see PIP working. But what do you mean by burn-in being a little bit less of an issue on this display, wouldn't you say it's significantly less of an issue? It's actually the main reason I chose 4K IPS over a 1440p OLED.
@ioone Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Earlier versions of G3223Q had some easily noticeable burn-in on them that users were reporting that were above normal expectation of an IPS monitor. Whether by firmware or newer manufacturing, that issue *may* have been resolved. But yes you are right that when compared to OLEDS the burn-in issue is probably significantly less. The monitor also has a built-in LCD conditioning feature to remove burn in when you notice it.

I think at 1440p you can run it at max settings with a 4080. At 4k you may not be able to to max out the settings. It is a trade off. I think 2k at max or 4k at just below max will still be really good regardless. I prefer the Dell version (over the gigabyte) because their customer service is really good in case you have something that is defective. As a side note, the LG32GQ850 is a 32" screen size running at 2k/1440p. 2k is better fitted for 27" monitors as the pixel pitch is denser. The 4K monitor should look more crisp and detailed.

@@AlaskanWonder The first 4k monitor I saw in a shop was 27inch (Dell ultrasharp) and the text looked amazing, easily the sharpest in the shop. It's frustrating that not many popular reviewers have reviewed this G3223q, so it's all just anecdotal or what I can see on my monitor which doesn't really tell me everything I want to know. And you are correct according to Dell's own website (www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-ca/000200916/dell-g3223q-gaming-monitor-hdmi-2-1-bandwidth-information#:~:text=The%20Dell%20G3223Q%20gaming%20monitor%20has%202%20HDMI%202.1%20ports,Link%203%20(FRL3)%20rate.&text=FRL%20Rate%20%2F%20Total%20Bandwidth%20%3D%20Number,Xbox%20Series%20S%20or%20X.), the total bandwidth is 24Gbps. For consoles it is sufficient, and for PC, with DSC compression, it is also sufficient for today's standards. As for contrast, it is not as strong as the S2721DGF (when I tested for this video), but overall I thought side-by-side comparisons that the picture actually looked better than the 27".

@@ioone thx for answering. i was trying making a comparison for a monitor for ps5. im looking for a 4k over 120hz and i targeting the dell g3223q vs samsung odyssey g7a. the dell would be 670 for 32" while the samsung is 500. can the dell perform well for gaming? or did you found something dissapointing about the dell g3223q? unless the hdmi2.1 bandwith of 24gbtis.
@ioone Жыл бұрын
@@shihabhossain515 I think they will both perform very similarly. Is the G7a a 32” monitor? I was only able to find a 28” version. With DSC I don’t think ps5 will ever utilize the entire 48Gbps maximum.
@shihabhossain515 Жыл бұрын
@@ioone the samsung is a 28"
@ioone Жыл бұрын
@@shihabhossain515 I hopped over to the popular site rtings.com and compared G3223Q and G7 S28AG70. Because G3223Q uses DSC compression (and PS5 does not), it displays color as chroma 4:2:0, the text clarity might not be as good compared to the odyssey one. You get an extra HDMI cable with the G3223Q. The G3223Q has additional Picture-by-picture which I think is more useful than just PIP. Everything else is pretty much the same. For me the 32" size is worth more than the 28" size. At 27-28" I would think the general optimal resolution is 1440p. Check warranty as well for Samsung. Dell has a really good return policy for dead pixels. Overall I would choose G3223Q based on the specs.

Not that I know of unfortunately.

My monitor displays 8bt 4k instead of 10b bits? Why is that?
@ioone11 ай бұрын
Did you check inside your graphics card software (adrenaline for AMD or the nvidia equivalent)? It might have an option to set it to 10bits

My monitor says 143.96hz instead of 144 in that advanced display window. I have the latest firmware and everything else says the same in that window as yours.
@ioone11 ай бұрын
I believe that’s just windows not rounding up to 144hz. Visually it will not make a difference. Is this display port?
@aro797511 ай бұрын
Forgot to say , it also says 8 bit instead of 10 bit. I'm connecting it to a 4070ti via the display port that came with the monitor. What are you connecting it with? Your own cables?. I ordered a vesa certified dp that states it can get up to 240hz 4k (Samsung G7 compatible) from Kabeldirekt to see if this helps.
@aro797511 ай бұрын
@@iooneI got the cable and 10 bit works now, however HDR says it's not supported unless I enable smart HDR in the dell menu. Do you have smart HDR on?. The monitor seems great but I'm having a very hard time ensuring everything is running correctly. Also, I can't select the HDR colour profile you have in the display profile settings unless I enable "use HDR" in windows. I noticed you have it enabled in the video and can still use that monitor icc colour profile....
@ioone11 ай бұрын
@@aro7975I'm glad you got the 10bit working! I leave the windows "Use HDR" setting off. when I have it off and I use the on screen menu, the smart HDR option is still available. If you mean by the "color profile" within the Brightness and color tab as in at time 4:45 in the video, you probably need to load a color profile in windows before it becomes available, otherwise it uses a default profile. If you hit the window key and type "color management", you should be able to see what ICC profiles you have.
@aro797511 ай бұрын
@@ioone Thanks. I have all the icc profiles and had checked and tried to set the hdr version 4 as the default but no luck. Regarding smart HDR, if I have that disabled in the on screen menu, then hdr is not supported whatsoever for me in windows and in the advanced display page, the "Vesa HDR 600 certified" line disappears. Is that the case for you ? Thats my last quesiton i promise and I really appreaciate you helping , even 9 months after the video. I know your aim probably wasnt to be a tech support for monitor troubleshooting lol. Great video and I gave you a sub too! Thanks!

Still on the search for a glossy monitor, period. Why does every damn monitor on the market have to have a horrible matte finish??
@cooltechno360 Жыл бұрын
If you don't mind voiding your warranty, the matte layer can be removed quite easily, there are guides all over youtube. I prefer matte though.
@bren.r Жыл бұрын
@@cooltechno360 that only works for older monitors unfortunately.

Just bought this monitor last week and set it up today. I noticed that when you extract the drivers (not firmware), it creates a folder on the C: drive that has 4 color management profiles - Dell_G3223Q_DCIP3_v2.icm, Dell_G3223Q_HDR_v4_MHC2.icm, Dell_G3223Q_Native_v2.icm, Dell_G3223Q_sRGB_v2.icm. Now when you go to advanced display adapters and check "color management" - my default only shows 1 - Dell_G3223Q_DCIP3_v2.icm. What I want to know is why there are 4 profiles but only 1 is installed? Also why is it picking "Dell_G3223Q_DCIP3_v2.icm" by default? Is it worth adding the other profiles or just adjust stuff via the control panel/manager? I do creative work so I feel the sRGB profile might be a better fit. Also in Advanced Display Settings, bit depth is 8 bit and color space says SDR? These can't be correct? How do I switch it to 10 bit and HDR? I've set it to 3840x2160 and refresh rate is 143.963 (which is weird rather than have 144) but close enough so thats it. Anyway thanks for this video Steve. You're the only person who has given the G3223Q this much love on KZbin. No other person has reviewed/unboxed this beast or given us helpful tips like you have.

Hope you've had some success. My current profile (after auto installing the drivers) was set to Dell_G3223Q_HDR_v4_MHC2.icm. I don't have the other profiles showing up. What video card are you using? I use an AMD 6800XT and using the Adrenalin software you can go to the settings button (the gear symbol), display tab and force the color depth to 10bit (assuming the graphics card supports 10bit output). I'm assuming Nvidia should also have something similar. As for picking DCIPS_V2 as the profile for default I'm not sure why. Perhaps the onscreen menu was set to a mode (non HDR, etc) when it was installing? Let me know how it goes.
