Dell Precision 7530 Laptop Fan Noise Repair. Cooling fans started making a loud rattling noise. It sounded like the fans were going to stop/lock up. Here is how to fix the laptop without replacing the fans.

This video helped me a lot. Thought I was going to have to totally dismantle the laptop to get the fans out to lubricate them. Thanks for the content!

Yes, completely understood. I have done this on many small fans, including inside Kenmore refrigerators/freezers (evaporator fan motors; which run in an environment below 32F/0C). This method has fixed them for years. Just carefully use a good quality synthetic engine oil, not something like wd40 or silicone spray; they are too thin and their lubricating properties are limited over time. I will definitely post a follow up if the fans have future issues. Also, dirt/dust getting on the bushings/bearings can complicate the situation, which is why it is important to seal the area back up.

Nice tip, can you do an update in a few weeks/months to see if this fix actually lasts? In my experience, when sleeve bearing fans start making noises, it's time to replace them, because lubricant will only work as a temporary fix. However, it's a different story if it's a ball bearing fan

It has been 16 days (over 2 weeks), with 9-10 hours per day minimum usage, and the fans are still quiet/normal. Will update again later.
