I have lodge job with Dell to try see if we get a better outcome as looks to be an issue that's causing the computer to heat up even if its not doing much when connected to the WD19 dock.

Some steps backwards relative to the 7480/7490 in exchange for the aluminium build. Gone is the ethernet, one less USB-A, and gone is the trackpoint/dual-pointing device keyboard.
@BsianTech5 жыл бұрын
Removing the trackpoint most people can live without but removing the Ethernet port on a business oriented laptop was a surprise move. Don’t see why they need to lose it in the 7400.
@jaywalkra5 жыл бұрын
@@BsianTech They really didn't need to. The chassis is still thick enough to accommodate the ethernet and 1x USB-A port that they removed. I've fiddled loads with the ethernet catch mechanism on my 7480 and it's still as solid as ever.
@BsianTech5 жыл бұрын
Jaywalkra I completely agree the laptop barely changed thickness and they were using a lever system for the Ethernet port which was fine, way better than having to carry a dongle around. I hope they bring it back, without it I mostly recommend looking at the 5000 series.

hi, i like this laptop very much, but i am confused with this laptop or the dell vostro 14 5490 , since the vostro has Intel 10th processor and it's cheaper. i don't know why is this better it would be very helpful if you can till me why the latitude is better and is worth the difference in money
@BsianTech5 жыл бұрын
Hi Rajeh Agashe, I understand the confusion. I will try give you some insight of the difference. The Vostro range are usually base off the Inspiron range just with few more security features used by businesses and sometime a bit more sturdy than the Inspiron range which is for the consumer market because of that they usually house the newest and latest tech which can be unstable. Speed isn’t normally the highest factor for a business but stability with minimal downtime is. As for Latitude this is built for business use especially medium to large enterprises. They are much better built quality and material designed to take more daily abuse they usually a generation or two behind in tech because it would have stabilised the issues they learnt from their consumers market. So between vostro and latitude, the latitude it’s about better build and stability and warranty repair ability. A non tech way to understand this is a Vostro is like a car you would by personally and take care of, where as Latitude are like taxis, built to take heavy abuse from different passengers with long operating times. Hope this might help you in your decision.

@BsianTech4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff Legaspi, thanks for the feedback =) great to see you looking into the 7400 and into the 2nd hand market, great to see the computers aren't disposed to the dump after it's first owner. You can charge the 7400 via it's USB-C port, this is how docking stations like the Dell WD19 and Dell WD19TB charge the computer and provide the other ports. The 7400 only requires 65Watts to charge the laptop, I hope that helps.
@legaspi194 жыл бұрын
@@BsianTech Thank you for the very fast response! I just want to ask if it's safe and possible to use 100w type c? Will it charge faster or the battery will suffer? Would you recommend it?
@BsianTech4 жыл бұрын
You can plug the 100W charger in, I believe it won't charge any faster than the 65W as the laptop has been program to only draw a maximum of 65W in any given condition, even at 100% load. It is mostly safe to use higher power adapter but I know manufactures when it comes to warranty claims do not like it, so because the laptop hopefully still under warranty I wouldn't recommend beside using the supplied 65W power adapter unless it is lost or faulty.

@BsianTech5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike G, the 7400 keyboard for me once giving good type and bash at it comparing with the 7490 is better. There very very minor difference, I can tell you that the new 7400 keyboard seems to have a bit more bounce than the 7490. Key travel wise its the same and the spacing between each keyboard seems to be the same too just that the look and keys themselves seems smoother surface on it on the 7400. 7400 keyboard vs the X1 because I am been a mac user for a while I perfer the look and feel of the keys of the new 7400. If I wasn't mac user I would go with X1 keyboard! As for the display of the matte display looked the 7400 and the x1 carbon 6th gen (sorry haven't received the 7th Gen yet) I can tell you the X1 seems to be brighter for sure once maxed out brightness but viewing angle seems to be the same. Colour wise my thoughts is the X1 is only winning with a marginal amount. Only when they side by side and looking really hard do I see it different else the new 7400 display has really setup up the game for sure massively. Hope this helps =)

Hi! Thanks a lot for the review :) If you were a lawyer with basic business necessities. Would you prefer this one as a business laptop over the Latitude 7490, HP EliteBook 830 G6 or the Lenovo ThinkPad T490?
@BsianTech5 жыл бұрын
Hi Maria, this will be an interesting question the three laptops you suggested I would have to break it down. First off is the ethernet port important to you because with the 7400 it lacks it so you will need to bring a ethernet adapter with you. So Latitude 7400 vs 7490, it really does come down to the price how much cheaper it is but pure hardware wise I would go with the 7400 as it has the newer generation CPU which allow you to keep it a little longer. The HP 830 G6 is a 13" laptop and really should be compared to the Latitude 7300, they both so similar besides the HP 830 has an ethernet port. I haven't got to play with the HP 830 so I don't know how the heat is on this but if its just basic business I don't expect it to be very warm in operating temperature. If you don't require touchscreen (as you can get it optional on the 7300) then the HP 830 G6 just for the ethernet port. As for the Lenovo T490 that is different class of laptop which isn't in the ultralight weight but if I had to choose between the two then the 7400 over the T490 for the weight and better screen I think. If you got the budget to push a little more do look into the Lenovo X1 Carbon that is one great business laptop to carry around. I hope that helps.
