this laptop is literally the best business travel laptop. Dell should have made these standard builds but of course, as technology gets better, hardware gets smaller and has to accomodate for portability. I feel as laptops gets smaller, heat dissipation becomes an issue so we will not see the already thinner laptops get too thin. I use this 7490 for business and travels and its just overall perfect and has been very reliable for what I use for. Only downside is built in cameras are horrible quality. The best dell built in camera to date is the Dell e7450 models. The cameras were amazing quality and I found out Dell no longer does business with the webcam manufacturer that were installed on those 7450. It was cheaper to go to a different manufacturer that allowed dell to save millions of dollars vs dell paying more to have premium cameras on their over $1000 laptops.

Got this used for my sister for $420, i7 8350, 16GB RAM, got new battery for it, runs like a champ. Thinking of repasting the cpu because it runs a bit hot when stressed.

Great price this is a solid buy, just keep up maintenance. Options you can update the drive and maybe add more memory up to 32GB max if the budget can squeeze this in.

I just bought one for 550$(in Canada). Had a 16GB stick of RAM, bought another 16 stick and thats never going to bottle neck. I havent used it much but I did replace the battery as well. It runs a bit hot when plugged in and stress testing it. Have it on a cooler pad now.

Do these things run Linux okay? Are there any throttling issues with the Intel 8th gen U-series CPUs? I read somewhere that the 8th gen U-series Intel CPUs throttle like crazy (or that there was a throttling issue so they never reach their advertised maximum performance).

they do not run Linux unfortunately, it is a Windows laptop only

If you don't have the credential you will need to reformat the drive or purchase a software to unlock the system. Also if the system has a Bitlocker you will need to reformat the drive. You can download a new version of window on Microsoft website and you are going to need a USB with 16 GB or higher.

Hello I have a Dell Latitude 7490 core i5 7300u generation I want to to upgrade its RAM but I didn't find I checked on bios it accept DDR4 2133 MHZ but I didn't find any ram like this online so I want ask Can I used 2400mhz instead of 2133mhz and also if I upgrade ram from 8 gb to 16gn is it helpful for multitasking because in 8gb it is hanging while multitasking. They are perfect for daily activities surfing the internet, work, school and last you a long time. The only thing I had to do on some of them is to upgrade the battery and reinstall windows but great system.

Help me please. I bought a this dell 7490 a second hand laptop, but everytime i close it (lockscreen mode) after opening the laptop the screen wont open. Just keypad and the wired mouse. So i need to force shutdown it. Im afraid it might damage my laptop. Please help me. I also encountered this one problem when i want to play valorant , my wired mouse wont work . Just the touchpad. Im about to cry please help me . I dont know what to do
