Just got one from work today with CAMM Memory. It is definitely an upgrade to the old model I had (Precision 7530). Came here to rewatch the review!

Both of these laptops are definitely Premium beauties with Premium prices for the mobile professional, that's for sure. Having said that, they both seem to have everything especially the CAMM memory which truly fascinates me. You really can't go wrong with either one in my opinion. The built-in Webcam and mics are crystal clear and just might be worth every penny!! Magnificent review once again Andrew! 👏 😁

Dell is very premium in terms of build quality, performance and support. If you have a DELL premium laptop... Good to go for next 5 to 6 years without any problem.. I mean it.

Excellent PC's. They have an excellent designed keyboard layout. Numpad laid out with full size keys is very good (not smaller closer together keys like on many other PC's) which allows fast numeric input for programs that require those kind of operations. Cameras and mics on both of these are excellent. Like the ability on these units to be able to open them up and get into the insides. One thing users do not realize is that in a number of cases if these machines are kept for several years is that the lithium ion batteries have a tendency to expand and swell (puff) up and need to be replaced. Having the ability for the user to get into the insides of these machines allows the user to easily replace the battery. As far as memory goes either type of memory in these pc's will probably be fast enough for most users. Displays are excellent. Either machine would probably fit most users needs. Excellent review as always.

The USB-C port is designed not by Dell and is currently designed for a maximum of 100 watts. I realize Dell has done some tweaking to allow up to roughly 130 watts on some of their PC models. Until those designers come out with an updated USB-C port to handle more power input this will be a limitation of the USB-C port for power charging. That is why they use a barrel pin charger for these machines to get around this power limitation.

Great review Mark. I would have liked to hear the speakers as they are not located on the top of the keyboard area. How does the sound of the of the 7670 compare to the 5570 and 5470? I would like to see a review for the Dell Precision 5570 as well. Thank you for all that you do Mark.

My ASUS strix scar 17 se smokes the maxed out Precision 7670 in terms of performance. Geekbench 5 Score 1937 Single-Core Score 16016 Multi-Core Score Cinebench R23 23835 Multiscore. The build quality of the Dell is better, but the price is 2.000 € more. Love Dell anyway. Nice review.

Hi, Andrew. Thank you for this excellent review. Yet again, another set of excellent displays from Dell. Very powerful units with exceptional performance and pricing. I'm really curious as to the performance impact of the CAMM RAM, since it's in single channel rather than dual channel. Keep up the awesome work, sir.

Is it normal for this laptop to hit up the 90s C while running certain tasks? I find the machine juggles between 80s-90s temps multitasking while plugged to the WD19 docking station, or running intensive tests. Idles around 50-60

Great review. Which one should I buy? The Dell Precision 7670 or the Levono Think Pad P16. Both would have the Intel i9 12950 HX and OLED Screen. The Dell has Bluetooth / WiFi 6E 5.2 the Levono only the 6E 5.1. I have had great luck with Dell Tech Support including replacing the whole unite. Price is not a big issue. Ok, do not want to throw the money away either. Ted

Personally I do not care for a laptop with num pad, but that is me. Now.... Holy crap what a powerhouse!!! Yeah the fans will be noticable, but you get performance for that. If only an operating system would allow the laptop to run full blast when it is off the juice. Still man, that screen will be the stealing the show!! Yes, I would certainly look at this as an alternative for my M1Pro 16" - Oh and before I forget: Great review Andrew, you cover everything off on this review.

10:28 Blender Benchmark? Top CPU is good, but the graphics card is more important in 3D projects. On my opinion, older 7720 with P5000 16Gb will be x2 slowly then A2000, but still better for big heavy projects with detailed scenes

Hello friend. Appreciate your informative videos. Thanks a lot. I am searching high performans laptop. But about 7770 or 7670 series there are alot of complains about high temperture cpu working especially on hard works. My programs need multiple core works at the same time and it is a long job. Calculating differential equations. I am beetween 7770 or 7670 and P16 Gen1 Please help me to choose one. On the Turkey market it can be found used ones from USA. And the prices are reasonable.

Ugh... soldered-on WiFI? Does any object get more upgrades than Wifi/Bluetooth?!! No. I remember when 9600b was considered The Ultimate Modem... we've made, uh, just a few changes since then! I don't care if AX211 is embedded or not, AZ400 isn't that far off (this is the standard that grabs you by the brain and does direct up- and downloads, I've heard. And AZ 401 or 410 fixed the catatonic accidents and/or Jekyll & Hyde switchovers... I hate that when that happens.) These IS one thing that embedded might do - I no longer hafta deal with those teeny plug-in cables. Gag... So the WAN Card support is there. Nice. What's the long NVMe-looking slot with 2 heat-pads/cushioning pads just to the left of the M.2 slot?

I don't think I will ever truly understand "workstation" laptops. I would 99/100 of the times prefer building a desktop with better specs for less money, and just buy a mid range consumer laptop and remote into the desktop if the horsepower is needed. Then again I'm not a creative professional and can't really get into the mindset.

I'm the same way. As a software developer, even though I can technically get away with working on a laptop, I hate it. I always end up having to connect external everything. Monitors, keyboard, mouse. And it'll overheat and slow to a crawl once you do stuff like web browser with a video meeting open at the same time. I prefer desktops by far.

In my case I got into workstations (old M6600) last year simply because it ended up being cheaper than a desktop for me with crazy GPU prices and all. I apreciate the fact that I have battery backup and a relatively compact package. I do agree it doesnt feel all that portable and my habit lately has been taking my tablet or old laptop and remoting into it. In fact for future use I intend to set it up as a VM server.

Track point is not coming back it seems 😥, well, at least the numpad is back (probably after users complained on the generation they tried to remove it). Still no AMD either 🥲. While Precision's are more expensive than ThinkPad's, they are the best mobile workstations someone can buy. And Lenovo reduced the quality of ThinkPad's sticking the name to everything, even consumer cheap models, not to mention their software is well, not to be trusted...I guess that leaves us with Dell and HP for mobile workstations if you are looking for quality and security regardless of pricing.
