Before anyone else makes the same mistake as mine, don't make the mistake of buying U2722D, thinking you'll just not have the Ethernet port. It can't be further from the truth. U2722D, isn't even an USB-C monitor. It's a monitor that has USB hub built in. You run a USB cable to it to distribute the output to multiple ports and run a DP or HDMI cable, for display. The USB port can't charge the connected device by more than 15w and can't carry any display data. I have no idea who feel tried to target with this, but this is the fact.

@@sunil564 U2722D is not an USB-C monitor. So if you're asking for USB-C Daisy chaining, that's not even an option. If you're asking about DP Daisy chaining, I actually don't know.

Yeah, not a bad monitor, but you can get the Benq PD2705Q with almost similar functionality, but much more color adjustment options for less that 400 USD. Dell is just way overpriced. And without serious measurements it's not possible to judge about the color reproduction accuracy, the mere factory paper is not a source of truth.

Thanks for the extensive and detailed review of the Dell U2722DE! Also nice that the monitor has a true color depth of 10 bit. And that the percentages of the color space(s) after calibration still almost match the specifications of Dell. Also nice that you discussed the questions of the viewers.

What exactly do you mean "after calibration"? This monitor comes calibrated from the factory.
@keesswier212
@keesswier212 3 жыл бұрын
@@PlayGameToday You're right, the monitor comes pre-calibrated from the factory. But in the Tech on Tech review, the monitor is recalibrated with the Spider 5 Pro calibration device. This results in almost the same calibration figures as the figures pre-calibrated from the factory. That's what I meant.

Would have appreciated actually seeing the cable input when referencing video & and peripheral inputs when showing the ports when walking through in segment 6. There was also the opportunity to physically show how the changes in different devices inputs work. Also when showing KVM function there was no details on KVM switching on keyboard. This was not really a functional walk-through. More like a technical overview. Beyond that I will say you have the best wall through on this monitor. Even better than the official Dell Technical guides. Great work.

Really great display. The number of ports it comes with is the bare minimum for any professional computer. Glad Dell understands it, while Apple have dropped the ball on their devices recently. If it had a card reader, that would be a 6-star display for this money. Working with text is pleasant and it keeps my Macbook Pro 16" charged. I can work with lid closed and open, which is super nice. The anti-glare coating is also a welcome addition after years of struggling on an iMac. I'm not a designer, so I don't have to calibrate it, but the colors it has out of the box are to the point. I've seen 4K displays which were unworkable due to contrast issues. Exactly the case when the quality of the panel is more important than the resolution in the spec.

Wow, was wondering why a 1440p was so relatively expensive for a non gaming monitor, if the KVM works well that alone makes that monitor well worth the price. Add in the ethernet (which while I probably wouldn't use it I can see it being very useful for laptop users) and that's almost a bargain if it's actually 10bit. And again I wouldn't use it much but all it's missing is a card reader which is still important to a lot of creative professionals since it would be easy to fill all the USB ports. even with 4k monitors starting to drop in price my personal sweet spot is still 1440p, my eyes are much happier with it so I keep an eye on what's new out there. If I didn't already have an Asus pro art monitor I'd save my pennies for this.

Hi to all, I am interested in the U2722D model to replace my excellent U2515H from 2015 with intensive use. I am using a desktop computer with an GFX RTX 2080 card, connected via DP. I do intensive work all day but also I do casual gaming on weekends (mostly racing games) without complaints. Checking the specs, both U2515H and U2722D have 8 ms max time response, and, I just discovered that my monitor has a "fast mode" with 6 ms that I haven't tried yet in years hahah!. So, I think it will be okay for me the U2722D for casual gaming. But, I want to be sure that the only difference between the U2722D and U2722DE is in the ports. I don't need USB-C charging, LAN port, etc. since I connect all peripherals directly to the computer. Both U2722D and U2722DE have the same exact panel, right? Thank you and regards.

This monitor is good. However, the 1440P resolution on the 27-inch display will appear more pixelated compared to your Macbook Pro. If you don't need the built-in Ethernet port, you can consider the 1440P 25-inch Dell U2520D (100% sRGB) which will have sharper images due to squeezing the same number of pixels onto a smaller display.

2day usage review. Dell Monitor management on windows is junk don't bother (as of this date). OSD menu can do all the functions that I have wanted. Daisy chaining monitors when trying to use KVM/PIP breaks the second monitor. I'm not sure what would happen if you do not daisy chain. USB Switch is also annoying. When using a usb drive it also moves the drive (which makes sense) Plug in your usb into one of the pc ports not the monitor when using KVM. When using the KVM switch, it also moves the network to the other device even if the device already has a network connection. this can be a pain because it could pull away a needed network connection on a device if it doesn't already have its own connection. Makes sense but is annoying, if you can disable usb switch, but note it won't function as a stand alone kvm any longer. Display is rather awesome. but glare/reflection is an issue even if it isn't glossy. I notice this on a lot of Dell monitors, less so on other brands. Not sure why. the PD USB charge is also great if you are using it for a laptop that can do USB-C charging like newer Surface Laptops and Macs. the same usb-c cable also is the device that connects to the built in usb hub. drop in a wireless keyboard and mouse and you can have only one cable coming out from behind your monitor. Can really clean up the desk space in front of your monitor. So far i give it an 8/10 due to the KVM not working as I would like and the glare. no monitor is prefect but this is pretty good for office use as a docking station. If they had a 120+hz I would really look close at getting one for my home setup

I did not notice image retention issues. But then I'm using Intel Mac Mini 2018. There are many reported issues with external monitors with M1 Macs. Hold the base of the stand with one hand, and use the other hand to grip the vertical pole part of the stand and twist as hard as you can. I do not recommend grabbing the monitor itself and trying to twist as suggested by Dell technical support as it would most likely result in breaking the stand off from the monitor back. Swivel refers to when the base of the monitor stand rotates so you can have the screen at an angle with the base of the stand facing forward. How would you compare the form factor with the previous U2721DE. Looking at specs and photos, the previous version seems way slimmer at 1,5cm thinner in depth without the stand. I've read the ComfortView Plus feature cannot be turned off and creates a very yellow tint, I was wondering how noticeable is it, and whether this greatly affects color accuracy? Also for $90usd less, would Dell u2520d (117.5ppi) be the better buy compared to Dell u2722de (109ppi) for visual sharpness sitting approximately 70cm away running a 2013 Macbook? Thanks!
@teohyc
@teohyc Жыл бұрын
Not sure about ComfortView Plus as I no longer have this monitor to test. Anyway, I always colour calibrate my displays so the calibrator will actually just remove any colour tint. 27 inch 1440P will have noticeable pixelation even when working from one arms distance away. So the 25-inch will appear sharper by comparing. But 1440P is not good for MacOS so you'll need another app called BetterDisplay to scale the UI to the best sharpness. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6uZhIhjmt6Mh6c

If you use MacOS, don't get 32-inch 4K. Also note that 4K resolution requires a powerful computer to run smoothly (maybe computers from 2017 or newer are good). Personally for me. I will go with the Dell U2722DE because I don't have table space. But I may also go with Dell U2520D which has same resolution, cheaper and sharper due to smaller display but with 1440P resolution.

I find anything above 27" uncomfortable, as you have to rotate your head too much. I basically leave a part of my screen unused if I have to work on a 32-34" display. That's why they started making curved displays, guess that's what makes sense if you absolutely must watch a lot of information side by side, but for a flat panel I'd say 27" is tops of what's reasonable.

You don't really have to think too much about how the drives are powered on or off or sleep. The OS will handle all that. There are billions of people who use external drives so there are proper processes to prevent damage through various forms of usage. The most important thing is never to plug out the drive physically while it's still in use, and or not ejected.

If you have limited budget, go with 100% sRGB displays instead of 100% AdobeRGB displays (anything above 80% is good) because sRGB displays are significantly more affordable than AdobeRGB displays. Then use the savings to get a 27-inch with 1440P resolution. The 1440P resolution is HUGE upgrade over 1080P resolution. Video editing apps work better on larger and and higher resolution displays. You can go with older models if they are cheaper. Display technology has matured years ago so displays years ago can look as good as new displays released today.
