I just upgraded my 9570 from 32 to 64gb and installed the 970 Samsung 2TB in place of my original 1TB. I used Acronis True Image to clone the original SSD to the 970 using an inexpensive enclosure and usb cable. Machine booted right up on the new drive, no problems. I did have to re-enter my Resolve Studio key, but that was the only surprise. I used the tool kit and parts in the links above in the description. I didn't need the screws or the heat sink. Tool kit was a lifesaver.

excellent Video. I am considering doing a similar upgrade on my 9500. I was wondering how the system did with heat once you super charged it with all that memory and disk space.
@conceptanddesigntheory2 жыл бұрын
Honestly I’m surprised that the heat wasn’t an issue. The upgrade remains the best I’ve made on the laptop and it’s be all positive performance gains.

Hi there! You have any battery issues. When having both SSD's at the same time? Like draining fast?

@@conceptanddesigntheory Thank you for replying! I was considering replacing the primary SSD for a better one and fresh install or just add a second one. But I guess there are benefits when having a better SSD as a primary source of storage.

Have you noticed programs and overall the system running much faster with the addition of the second SSD?

Is it possible to apply the heatsink without upgrading the SSD already inside the system? Thanks!
@conceptanddesigntheory4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can although depending on how big the current SSD size the fitment won't look exactly the same as what was seen in the video. For instance my dell 256 gb ssd is about 1/4 the size physically in the ssd slot and I was surprised to see it under the factory heatsink taking up such a small space. Nonetheless its possible and you would just place the two clear bands that come with the heatsink kit around the factory SSD and you're good to go.

Hi,nice video.I would like to know whether we can make dual boot (win 10 & win 2019 server ) in XPS 15 9500?
@gabisuk73964 жыл бұрын
Thanks, good video. Proof no need to waist your money on top specs. You can do it your self and save a lot of pesos.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video and its absolutely the way to go vs. top specs directly from Dell. I saw during Amazon Prime Day the entire upgrade was even cheaper and the entire process was a lot of fun.

This is very helpful, thank you. Just wonder do I need to reinstall Windows system after installing the ssd
@conceptanddesigntheory3 жыл бұрын
If you still have the original SSD installed then you can just install the new one and use it as another drive and keep your OS on the old SSD so no need to reinstall windows. Alternatively you can use Macrium Reflect and just do an image of your original SSD to your new one. That's how I did it and effectively not touching the original one. This option would have a slight speed benefit especially with heavy video /photo editing / rendering process if the files being worked on and software is installed on the same drive. Theres a few youtube videos on the hard drive imaging process that I found helpful. Good luck!
@rishipatel41634 жыл бұрын
So i m going to do the same. I just want to use one SSD in slot one as running two SSD might drain a lot of battery. But I am scared to deleting or moving windows and don't know how to do it

Hi, I have a laptop grey, the model is dell XPS 15 L501X ( old laptop), I have few queries: - 1. can I upgrade my laptop with the same combo viz 64GB ram and 2TB storage? I have inbuilt Intel HD graphics. 2. If this combo is not suitable for my laptop, what best combo you can suggest, considering the laptop is an old one. Please guide/ help, I am looking to upgrade my laptop as my reason is the same as yours, want to use the laptop for graphic design, image editing, and low video editing projects. I am a professional av editor, colorist. And the second reason is not to spend too much on buying a new laptop. waiting for your response anxiously !!

What if I already have 16 gb of ram ?
@conceptanddesigntheory2 жыл бұрын
Are you maxing out with your current ram usage? I would take a look on whether or not the upgrade makes sense at either 32 gb or 64 gb of ram. 32 is plenty and 64 is definitely covering more than I need.
@ericj8102 жыл бұрын
Upgraded my xps 9520. 16 to 32 gb ram bought from dell. Ram failure on startup. Had to reinstall back to 16gb ram. What a crock. Need my $ back for the 2 16gb sticks.
@conceptanddesigntheory2 жыл бұрын
That’s horrible! Especially bought directly from Dell is crazy to hear. With the 9520 I know some people are using the ram upgrade from www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/dell/xps-15-(9520). Good luck and I hope you get this all sorted soon!

@@conceptanddesigntheory Im going to try it again. Maybe a small chance i didn't seat it all the way or something. I switched back to the original ram kinda fast. Ill go ahead and install the 2 16 gb sticks again and make sure they are seated as good as they can be. Then do a startup with the cover still off incase it errors i wont have to remove the cover and all that jazz all over again. I will once again remove the power from batt to board b4 i do it.

Can you add 64GB ram into a Dell 9560?
@conceptanddesigntheory3 жыл бұрын
Yes its possible but you have to pay extra attention on compatibility. There are confirmed reports on the Dell forum of people doing an upgrade successfully and I would recommend purchasing the ones confirmed available on Amazon.
