With the last model EC685 it is not necessary to remove the metal tube of steam supplier. Simply put it in "hot milk" position. The air intake remains closed. You can alternate both positions "capuccino" to "hot milk" in order to obtein the desired foam texture.

I have the same machine but I could never get that frothy latte. What kind of milk did you use for this ? Also how many ounces that pitcher is that ?
@GreenBeanCoffee
@GreenBeanCoffee 4 жыл бұрын
Milk is 3,2% protein and 3,5% fat cow milk. The pitcher is 12 Oz volume. Try to start on the top of milk and give to “suck” some air into the milk. 5-10 sec. And than nozzle dipper for heating and mixing milk. Don’t make big bubbles.

I took of the outer part to froth my milk but it doesn’t seem to get the thickness and only makes hot milk. Do you know how to fix this? Another question is my coffee option keeps flashing after I make my first coffee :( Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@selfintuition2
@selfintuition2 4 жыл бұрын
Very nicely done :) 2 quick questions: 1) how long does it take you to mill 11.5g of espresso coffee through that manual grinder and 2) what kind of attachment is that on your milk frother? I own one of these Dedica machines and can confirm they are a nice budget entry level and compact espresso machines to play around with. Certainly makes a tasty coffee.
@GreenBeanCoffee
@GreenBeanCoffee 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you =) 1) It took about 2-3 minutes. And certainly it depends on the type of coffee, beans density and its roasting. 2) This is the standard Dedica 680 steamer. I removed the panarello and left the rubber tube. So milk froths more silky.

Hi! Sorry for the late answer. For training use a cold cow milk with 3% (or more) protein and 3-4% fat. Most important is protein. Try to make really thick milk. Maybe 10s on top of the milk and than put the nozzle 1 cm dipper for heating and mixing. Here is my video about that kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGjXhGxvrNyjias

Did you cut the silicone tube for frothing the milk (so more air pressure gets into the milk)? My tube (Dedica 685) is quite longer. So, when i tried you technique today I just got hot milk instead of foam. Maybe due to a lack of air bubbles because of the long and thin tube?
@GreenBeanCoffee
@GreenBeanCoffee 4 жыл бұрын
No, it is standart lenght on Dedica 680. I think lenght dosn't matter. In my tube hole is 1.5mm. Maybe you put the tube too deep. Try to hold it under milk surface 1-2mm about 5 first sec.
@unterrichten.digital-tutor125
@unterrichten.digital-tutor125 4 жыл бұрын
@@GreenBeanCoffee Thank you very much for your quick response. So, you hold the tube about 5 seconds right below the milk surface so it makes this squeezing sound and then you put it deeper to get the milk circulating? @@GreenBeanCoffee I thought the grinder you are using in this video can grind coffee sufficiently fine enough so that you can use this coffee powder with an unpressurized filter. Can you comment?
@GreenBeanCoffee

Grinding produce heat. Ceramic burrs has less thermal conductivity than steel. Too fine grind => more time => heating => thermal expansion => grinding degree change. it is not advisable to use a $ 2000 coffee grinder with this device. Much easier to use pressured basket.

@GreenBeanCoffee
@GreenBeanCoffee 4 жыл бұрын
it is hard to say. The degree of grinding depends on many factors: bean quality, roasting, temperature, humidity, how much the millstones are worn out. You cannot make the same settings using other beans
@esmondgam9132
@esmondgam9132 4 жыл бұрын
@@GreenBeanCoffee I see, thank you so much for advising, I will try to find my own setting! Because I feel that my espresso came out too fast (around 10 sec), unlike some tutorial said that brewing time of 25-30 sec
@LaurentVanderdonck
@LaurentVanderdonck 4 жыл бұрын
Try to go finer, it will slow your brew time. Depending on the bean (i use the skerton pro, shouldn't be way off), I grind between 2 and 5 clics for espresso. The darker, the less clics you use. I usually do double shots, 14-15g in, 30g out in about 25 to 30 seconds (plus the 3 seconds of pre-infusion).
